View Full Version : ***Evans Oktoberfest Update***

October 12th, 2006, 11:59
With just a few weeks to go, I thought I'd post up a little reminder and update to those who expressed interest in going to Evans Creek the last weekend of October.
This may also be the last Evans trip of the year: http://www.pnw4wda.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2997
Anyway, here's the list of people who said they wanted to go. It's been a few weeks, and I know everyone has busy, constantly changing lives, so just post up if you still plan on attending.
Me
Tim (T&A-XJ)
Phil (ECKSJY)
Michael (2xtreme)
John M. (Avanteone)
Eli (12GaugeXJ)
Hans (XJourney)
Ian (Slacker87XJ)
Pat (Pathatten)
Paul (mud1059)
Jason (Comanchekid)
Jeremy (Megawatt)
There will also be a Samurai joining us. He's a buddy of mine who I've wheeled with a bunch. Good people.
My plan thus far is to head out Saturday afternoon and run a couple trails before setting up camp and shutting down for the night. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us that afternoon and evening. I know there were a few people who won't be driving on Sunday who might want to get their Jeeps dirty; this would be the perfect time (James, Jay, etc...).
So, post up!

Hey Hans, If your going down on Saturday, do you want to meet somewhere and go together?
edit: Doh, just noticed you were going on Sunday only.
Also, looks like it'll be the last run of the year at Evans. FS is shutting down the trails Nov. 1st.

If I do end up going down Saturday, caravaning would be great. I will talk to my Winch B!tch, scratch that, Recovery Strap B!tch. I don't think he is down for some good old fashion wet fall camping.

Definately worth the trip if yoiu can wheel. beautiful views, great wheelin, and cools guys like me will be there. As for the last run of the year....The campground always closes November first however the trails always remained open. I assume that's what was being said. If not, I "know a guy" ready to rebel run it to play in the snow this winter..

No. It is actually a friends (if he comes with me). I should be buying my new trailer in a couple of weeks (promised myself I wouldn't do it till I got rid of some other other "stuff" around the yard !!!1
OK, So we have 3 of us. Ryan, would love to have you in the convoy.
Hans can pick you up at your exit (let him know which one in Mt Vernon you want to meet him at (Hans, you might need to send him photos of your rig) I assume you have a CB?
Then you can both pick me up at a Marysville exit.

To answer a few questions that have been raised, Saturday is going to be kinda a free for all. I'll be up there early Saturday afternoon (1300-ish) and wheeling with a couple people. Jeremy, just 'cause your buddies aren't Jeep guys doesn't mean we wouldn't love to wheel with them...just as long as they're not white 'Yotas. ;)
John, did you ever decide if you're going to take the trailer, or camp? Either way, Jay and I might swing by your place on the way out there and convoy...? Lemme know.
Probably going to be a pretty early start on Sunday morning. I know some of you are coming a long way, so we can push it back to 0900 to accommodate you guys. Let me know if that's still too early for ya.
Plan on meeting at the 311a trailhead:

Who said "your jeep was not allowed" and why? What: One last pre-snow Evans Creek trip. Running lots of trails. 311a/b to 197 to 198 to 519 to 520 to 197. Or something. All day event, either way with an emphasis on speed and completing lots of trails.
Who: Maximum 10 vehicles. Anyone who meets these requirements: Minimum one locked axle. At least 31" M/T tires with decent tread. Tow points front and rear. Real recovery strap. Have some trail experience. Some exceptions can be made...PM me if you want to go but don't meet these requirements. Mirror Pond is an appropriate bribe.
Where: Evans Creek ORV park.
When: Last weekend in October, the 28th and/or 29th.
Why: 'Cause it'll be fun. I promise.

The original "minimum requirements" are at the very begining of this thread.
We would love to have you along, but since we don't have experience wheeling with you it would be best if you rode shotgun in one of the rigs with someone else in the group (since you don't meet the minimum requirements). If you are interested, I would PM Matt directly and talk to him about going, getting directions, meeting times and places, etc. He is the run coordinator and can give you more "formal" advice.
