Hey guys! I have some buddies that are moving out that way later this year. They are climbers and I know Boulder is one of the Climbing Mecca's in the US. The thing is I have Muscular Dystrophy so no climbing for me unless its in the Jeep! :D I am planning on flying out or MAYBE driving the Jeep out sometime around April 2010.
I know you can drive to the top of pikes peak and i forgot the other mountain but its the highest road in America. My buddy was telling me about this yesterday since he just came back from CO on Wednesday. If I drive the Jeep out there I want to run a couple trails but nothing hard since Its an 18 hour drive each way.

Honestly, there is not much going on on the front range. All of the fish are dead thanks to Coors, all of the trees are dead, thanks to Asia, and all of the roads off of the highway are way too bumpy, thanks to geology.
Just get in the Jeep and head out. I know it only took one trip for me to know where I wanted to live for the rest of my life.
Not sure where Columbus is, but I grew up in a cornfield in Illinois, and Im telling you, Colorado is nice.
Mt. Evans outside Idaho springs is the highest paved road in America, but its paved...

Mt. Evans that was it! Columbus is just south of Indy about 40 miles. Its the Home to Cummins, Inc., My employer! :D If i was jobless and there was an opening for one out there that way i'd go but i actually kinda enjoy my job and the people I work with! That and most of my family is within an hour of me! I'll probably end up flying out anyways since it'll be way cheaper but I do plan on getting out to the Fall fling or Coloradofest on year!

I grew up in champaign, about an hour west of the IL/IN boarder on 74. I got out when I was 19, and havent looked back since, but I can understand about a solid job that you enjoy and family close. Have fun!

Its not too bad here honestly. The cost of living is relatively low, There are at least 3 good wheeling spots that are within 2 hours of me, NO EMISSIONS TESTING(which i would pass anyways), and plenty of good fishing spots! There are a lot cooler places to live but its my home and I don't mind it.

Has a lot of good trails on it. It will also give you directions how to get there.
Mosquito Pass is one of my favorite high passes that is not very difficult.
Post up on here when you get here and I am sure you will be able to find some people to go with.

i like doing trail ridge better if you're only driving.
If you're not wheelin, and you're single... i suggest tubing Boulder Creek on a weekend. LOTS of tail due to CU being right there. Nothing like half nekked drunk chics losing their tops in the creek! WOOHOO!!! i'm going this weekend. :D
