Blinkers stpped working

blinkers stopped working out on the road one day
i switched out the steering colum for tilt and figured the switch mechinism was pooped
but blinkers still won't work
when i engage the hazards the indicators will flash but not the lights
when i engage the turn signal the indicators will not flash
i checked fuses and replaced blinker fuse thing
electrical is not my strong point so i am lost
any ideas out there or can someone explain to me how to test for a ground fault

there is 2 flashers one for the 4 ways and one for the turn signals. switch them around and see if they work then

yah i tried i can hear the hazard module clicking but no lights are flasher
and when i use the turn signal i get nothing, no clicking or blinking they are both new
i think i have corroded connections some where i'll try cleaning them all(headlight and taillight sockets, fuse terminals etc)

i hate electrical, i am tempted to buggify the xj and remove all un needed electrical
