Brakes are easy!! Should take about an hour to do everything. Just put out a request for assistance and someone in your area should be able to help you out saving you some cash!!

I've used those guys for a vaccum bleed after brake work a couple times when I lived in HR... they're OK, but beware their "while we're here we should do ______" sales pitch once they have it on the rack...

Jim, call around the auto parts stores and find out what new rotors would cost - sometimes that's cheaper than having the old ones turned, and realistically - better since you won't be running around on thinner brake rotors. If your XJ has already had one brake job done where the rotors were turned, there's a good chance the brake shop won't turn them again as they may end up under - spec thickness and you'd need to buy new ones from them at a higher cost.

Generally, that's what the brake shops hope for when you come in for their $100 brake special - they hope your car needs parts above and beyond the brake pads/shoes.

I imagine your rear drums are fine as long as they aren't metal-grooved by busted or non-existent brake shoe material. Drums on XJ's rarely need turned.

To install your locker, we're gonna have the rear brakes partially apart anyway Jim. We can look at the condition of the drums then and if they're ok, slapping on a set of brake shoes isn't gonna take but maybe another 30 minutes. The front brakes - if you have new rotors takes maybe another 30 minutes to do.

If you get the parts, I can get your brakes done since it'll be here on on jack stands anyway.

Rotors should always be turned when putting on new pads!! Drums only need a scuffing when putting on new shoes, unless there is groving.
