power steering pump failing?

Other than leaking is there any other symptoms of pump failure? My pump does not leak but is acting strange.

Mine started making occasional louder sounds sometimes when turning. Pretty soon I also noticed a small leak. If the steering gets real hard to turn, usually it is the pump. If it squeals when turning, it might just be the belt.
