I just got my email regarding the build information of my 97. I'm alittle confused if all are listed with the rear axle the same way. My XJ was a corporate lease, and also shows it has a 117 amp alternator. But it had carpet, and doesn't appear to have been police.

Looks similar to my build sheet. Sometimes the code number for an option has been changed and the descriptions provided are the current option content, not necessarily what your Cherokee had installed at the factory. Sometimes adding a package option upgrades an item and the base model spec is still shown. Individual items were optional (carpet ?) or part of an option package. Just because a Cherokee has optional skid plates or tow hooks doesn't mean that it has the UpCountry option package. Not all PD Cherokees had the Police Option Package.

how does one go about getting a build sheet for their XJ?

The search button is your friend. :wave1:

This is interesting to me.
"Compact Spare Tire" with "Dana M30/181MM Front Axle"
I hope you've added a full size spare.

This is my spare:

Are you questioning the word "Corporate" in front of the 8.25?

"corporate 8.25" just refers to the 8.25 which is made by DCJ. This is in contrast to the Dana 35 or 44 rear which was made by Dana.

Correct! And some of us just refer to it as a "Chryco" 8.25. The 8.25 has been around since the late sixties-early seventies. I know that one of my co-workers has a 72 Dart with the 8.25 in it.

Its a great axle and its starting to get some aftermarket support now thanks to Cherokee owners wanting to beef it up.

Ok, here's another rear axle question. I just got the build sheet for my 98 XJ. It lists "Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle".

Does that mean LSD?
