Apparently Hubbadubbazootaroonie or whatever isn't the only one who can frack up his exhaust on a trail. When I got done with kelly Flats I noticed a buzzing/vibrating noise to my exhaust and figured I'd smacked it up into the body again. Turns out the old OE muffler decided it didn't like being on my Jeep anymore.

The crack:

New muffler (a whopping 26.72$ after tax):

A bit of cutting and welding:

I decided to add a dew welds to where the pipes attach to the muffler:

Not bad for an hours' work.

For me yes, has a little more low bass rumble and a little louder from the stock OE. Dutch might not have noticed due to the huge crack making his OE louder and a lower rumble :D

Took me all of 30 minutes to weld on the extended pipe and the adapter to the front and then I clamped mine. Feels good to spend so little to get a return. :peace:

My biggest return was the higher flow CAT, for $90 I can actually feel it helped a lot.

Is this just a trail rig cause a cat delete will kill your gas mileage:rtm:?

Do you want to dail drive a 7" lifted jeep w/ 4.56's and 36" bias ply IROKs? Oh yeah, no carpet, A/C, cruise control, or any other creature comforts. I'm just asking?

I only drive it to the trail, and once I get my trailer to tow it with that won't be as often either.

Oh yeah, and on my 92 there isn't an O2 sensor after the CAT so it really shouldn't affect how my engine runs. I still have back pressure through my muffler and small piping.

Is it registered in Firestone? If it's not an emissions required area now, it will be next year. You have a little time to figure out what cat to put back on.

Yeah I heard that I sold some Mustang parts to a guy and he sells Magnaflow and he told me they had meeting for some new crap coming down the pipe on cat converters. He did not seem happy cause Magnaflows cat would not pass with the new deal.

Weld county isn't an emmission area, and you don't don';t need a cat to meet standards. i used to work for envirotest. the motto is "installeds, intact, and apparnetly operational." i just need to cut a catr in half and weld it around my piping. larimer is going back to testing, not weld.

It's not a motto, it's the rule.. same with diesels.(when required by the engine sticker) Some of the newer ones have the cat built into the muffler. It was confusing the first couple times looking for the 'TWC' mandated on the sticker, seeing nothing, on a three year old bone stock truck.

You sure it's not coming back to Weld?

I wouldnt worry about it in Weld they have never really had it. Unless you are in the Greeley area. I dont run a cat on my jeep or any of the emisions crap on my mustang.

The muffler was alright, the pipe was what folded up like a friggin accordion. I got the manifold replaced. It was cracked hardcore around cyls 5 and 6.

Project took me about 5 hours plus about 10 minutes the next day to do the o-rings I forgot to do.
