BFG muds in the 31" flavor are $145 ea at tirerack + shipping, mounting and balancing.
Buckshots mounted balanced and out the door $425.

yeah, 4 buckshots on the truck and out the door for 425.
I looked at bridgestones locally and they wanted $650, even with the promo.
local cooper place wanted $600 for st's, over 7 for stt's.
I didn't find any place with BFG's local, but judging from the price on tire rack I couldn't afford those.
Like I said, my neighbor had them on his TJ, he got 30K out of them when it was his DD, and they weren't to the wear bars yet. I figured it was the best bang for the buck.

Speaking of which:
I think I'm gonna post up on SIJA www.sija.org/forums/ (http://www.sija.org/forums/) and see if any of those guys would like to join us.
Seems like another good bunch of guys, I wouldn't mind associating with and I have yet to meet any of them.

If we have a really big group show up, we can just split up into two groups. No big deal.

I'm trying to talk Erich, (1993 Red XJ) into going. I'd be his first wheeling trip.

Your assignment: Compare/Contrast Redbird, Badlands, Cliffs.

Never been to Redbird, would like another place to go break stuff. Is it worth the ride from Chicago? What kind of terrain compared to RORP or Badlands. I'd think it'd be a bit more hilly but it is pretty close to Attica so terrain might not change much. Just wondering, as you don't get a good idea from pictures.

A little finesse is required at Redbird to stay off the bark. I almost prefer it to the Badlands, though not because it's any easier.

There are no rocks.

It can be quite muddy if there has been a lot of rain and I wouldn't say there has been in a few months.

I would say most would recommend not following the YJ on 42s.

Redbird management has approved a night ride on Nov. 11th!
Camping will be allowed in the paeking lot, for basically free.
You will be charged the normal $10 a day fee, which includes camping.

See here:

I'm not sure which trail that was. We bypassed the tree & hole that likes to eat windows, by going along the top of the ridge to the east. That hill exits at the road. It hadn't been used in quite a while. Mike & David were the only 2 to go down. Both got a round of applause from the spectators at the bottom. Nobody thought the WJ (Brian I believe) could get down without body damage. So the 3 of us turned around & found a different route out. JIM.
