Ive got a '88 XJ 2wd with a manual transmission that has a leaking rear axle seal. I thought it would be a e-z project to change seals until I checked this forum and found out that Jeep used a bunch of different rear ends over the years in the Xjs.
Ive looked at the various pictures posted here and """THINK""" I have a Dana 3.5 as the cover plate is oval (no flats on the top or bottom)with 10 bolts holding it on
and a "flattend" area on the R/H side of the cover with the drain plug in that same area.
My concern is that because its a 2wd XJ I might have something other than what is talked about in the forum.
There is a metal ID tag on one of the bolts.
Thanks
