Some work we've been doing in the garage the last week on Austin Stobaughs Jeepspeed (1709)

The original set up was turbo ugly and had zero room in the back. He got bumped by a 7 truck at the Primm race and it bent the bumper down a couple inches as well as mangle the current jack mount.

We cut all the old junk off the back. Put a new cell under the car, new rear bumper to move the tire weight out back. New quick disconect Jack mount and jack handle mount.
And Re-mounted the trans. cooler to so it didnt have to pump the fluid up so high.

very nice! thanks for posting this, i had no idea JAZ made a fuel cell for the XJ like that. another part goes on the list!

looking good!

Jack Handle.

We did the same basic stuff for the handle. The mounts are removable and adjustable.
We made one end spring loaded with a pretty simple bolt, spring and washer idea that Ryan had.

There's a spring behind the washer...

Ryan made it clamp on and then did the same basic thing with other end.

Remounted the cooler.
It had been converted from a 5 speed to an AW4 automagic just before Austin took the Jeep over.
We lost the trans. 6-8 miles from the finish line at Primm a couple weeks ago, so we thought that we possibly burned the pump out of it because the cooler was so high.
Plus there's no reason to have it up there anyway, because the fan pulls plenty of air thru it by itself.

In the end, Whomever put the trans. in had neglected to tighten ANY of the bolts and the trans backed off of the block far enough to pull the torque converter out of the transmission pump...

Much much cleaner and workable than before.
You can still rack 2 tire's for a long race if needed.
Visibility is 547% better out the back.
The jack isnt vulnerable to nerfing anymore and you can have it and the handle off the car in 5 seconds.
Lowered 300+ lbs. for a better center of gravity.
