rebuilding my dana 35

Re: rebuiling my dana 35

Remove the carrier and axles. Remove DS. Remove pinion nut and washer. Remove yoke. Take a block of wood, rest up against the end of the pinion, hit with a BFH, hard, and it will pop out through where the carrier sat. Not too hard. HTH.

You have removed everything so that just the pinion remains. What seems to me you need to hit that sucker harder

Well All I can think of is the outer bearing that more or less slips on is now jammed onto the pinion.

Sounds like the bearing welded itself onto the pinion. You need a torch to heat up the bearing, then it will come off pretty easy with a sledge. (you may have to cut the mushroomed part of the pinion gear off) A chisel against the inner part of the bearing next to the pinion gear may help too.
