if you are able to trailer/tow it, i would cruise to a self service car wash and hit up the de greaser and stuff.

Yeah I was thinking of using the car wash but it would coust me A LOT of money. I already have degreaser and am hoping to drive up my ramps and really be able to get under there and clean it good.

You need to find a cheaper car wash!:D
There are still a few 50 cent ones around.

I have seen those but you only get one minute to start. I can spend a good 8 bucks after a good day of wheeling.

Soak in de-greaser. Idle for 5 minutes with hood closed. Drive to car wash, set up ramps, spend $8 and you're done.
If you rent a power washer, where are you gonna do it? It's gonna leave an oily greasy mess........ at least the car washes have drains...........
Don't get it TOO clean..... :D We're just gonna install another grease ball in it's place........

If you wanna borrow mine that is fine. Don't know if you wanna drive all the way down here. I am going up to Westminster Sat morning to work on a Bathroom. You will just have to come down to SE Aurora to bring it back.

x3 or x4 or whatever on the local car wash.
Take your ramps with you.
Get about 2 cans of foamy engine cleaner and let it soak for 5 min.
That stuff will clean up even the dirtiest engine.

X2 I only see plastic ones as well. I was lucky enough to snag a pair at my neighbors garage sale.

Yep, steel ramps are getting harder to find. A neighbor gave me a pair of stamped steel ones that I have here at the house, and the landlord for my storage lot gave me a set he was about to scrap. Pretty nice homebrew set made with 1"x3/16" angle. They look like a train tressle bridge when they're positioned end-to-end......:D

that sucks. i'd much rather have metal ones. and the plastic ones ive seen are only like 6" high.

If your rig is lifted just enough you dont need any ramps. But it is understandable if you have more then just your jeep.

You think that if you were going to go spend pretty much the entire day at someones casa they would call you the day before and ask what time you were coming? No such call. Do I need to post up my PM's to prove I am right?

May 9th, 2009, 23:25
Nope...... One would think that if someone was being offered a garage, tools, experience, and help with an engine install....... SOMEONE would be the one to call to confirm when to be there...... :D
It's all good. Since you weren't here, Keifer got BOTH doors fixed/modified and his fender/header panel re-aligned; I got all the front LCA joints rebuilt and installed; and Jon got some assistance with installing his LockRite - including another custom modification idea for his super-turdy-five that will be featured in it's own thread very soon I'm sure...... :D

Well either way I am sorry. I had a fun filled day with spring clean up yard work at my grandmothers today. I am sore as hell. We can start the engine anytime. I am done with school this coming week so I dont need the Jeep, since I take the bus downtown for work. Let me know and we will make plans that can be only seen one way.:sure:
