Just curious, does coolant harm serpentine belts in any way? I notice that mine is squeaking a little (much less now) after I flushed the coolant. Used some brake cleaner on it to make it go away. Anyone know if coolant permanently deteriates belts in any such way?

Thanks!

I doubt coolant will harm the belt, but brake cleaner might. Coolant, being somewhat slippery, might cause a belt to squeal until it wears off, but it might also just be telling you that the belt needs tightening.

Belt's tight, just tensioned it after removing it for the water pump. Thanks for letting me know though, that is has no longterm effects!
