What does this sensor do?

Replaced my cylinder head almost a year ago in my 2000. There was an electrical connector attatched to it on the pass side. The new one did not come with one and stupid me left it on the old head at the machine shop. I can't find any info in the fsm about it and I believe it has to do with why my jeep wont pass inspection (cel isnt coming up on dash when you turn it on). Anyone got an idea what this is?

Pretty sure that's you're oil pressure sensor wire

Well i've got oil pressure on my gauge. Im not saying your wrong but wouldnt it not be working if it was unhooked?

Oil pressure sending unit is down near the oil filter adapter, not on the head.

Ya I just found that one on the net figured it would help, I still cant find any mention on what its called/does though.
