Well you know the rest.

No pics of the actual event but you guys aren't interested in carnage like that anyways right?

Okay so I rolled my jeep at pismo this morning. I straddled the top of a dune so I could look down and see what was on the other sided before I went down and of course it was a razor back with a nasty v-noch at the bottom and thats when the face of the dune just slid out from under me and over I went. I managed one complete revolution drivers door first, scooping about 50lbs of sand into my face and landed back on my wheels. Not much carnage for how hard of a roll I took, my bottle jack ejected out the side window in the back ( still on the strap I thought it was tied down with), roof a little dented, passenger door severaly dented, passanger mirror bracket broken, high beams stuck on, broke my cb antenna, and whip. I would say this was a sucessful test of my seats, harnesses, and roll cage. The jeep was running fine after I cleaned up my mess so I manged to drive it out of the notch I was in with a little shovel work and started back towards camp. I made it about 2 miles before it started running really rough so I made for the easiest exit of the dune and basically idled it on to sand highway and then called for my tow rig to come pull my back to camp. Jeep idles fine but you cant throttle it at all so probly got some sand in the map sensor or push a bunch of junk into the fuel filter, I will figure out whats wrong next weekend. Also my winch quit after about 10 seconds of use after the roll. I was really lucky to walk away with out a scratch. considering I broke rule number 1 and was wheeling alone although there was people around that I could have got help from, atleast thats how I rationalized it to my self at the time. I did wreck my quad the first day I was there and manged to bang my knee up pretty good, but it was still a fun trip.

Here are a few pics for you carnage junkies.

Despite wrecking the bike the first day I had a blast. I have never seen the dunes so soft as they were this weekend, I will have to rember that if I'm up there and it rains after the wind blows for a few days, its definatly different than normal.

Yeah, I was suprised how minimal the damage was. It was a pretty hard roll, I walked back up to the top of the dune to put a flag up so no one would come over run into me while I was cleaning up the broken glass and I would guestimate that I rolled down 75ft. I'm sure rolling in the soft sand helped to keep the damage down but I'm really happy with my cage and seats, I didn't move around in my seat at all when I rolled and if the motor was still running I actually could have drove out imeadiatly.

Interesting, I've been there about 20 times and I've never seen one, vehicles buried on the side of a hill yes, but never rolled, now glamis on the other hand hell I've found a brand new SL 500 rolled over in the dunes.

I've posted a thread in OEM tech to see if any one know why my motor is running so bad after the roll.

Thanks but I'm replacing with lexan, Just finished cutting out some test templates to make sure it would work and its actually easier than I thought it would be. Now I just gotta track down a good supplier to get the right kind of lexan.
