Hey guys went down to the JY to get some spare axle shafts and all they had were 84-87 xj's. I was wondering if these shafts and the hub will work on 94 hp D30.
Thanks

You want 1990-1999.5 hubs. 1989-1995 D30 with ABS have the larger 5-297x u-joints, and all 1995-2001 D30 have 5-297x u-joints. ZJ and TJ D30 will fit but don't bother if they are the CV style shafts.

I don't know for sure if the hubs and shafts will swap, I have never tried. I do know that the hubs and brakes are a different type on the early XJ's.

If you want some correct hubs and 5-297x shafts, I have some extras for sale, PM me.

I have a 1991 XJ with the D30 front and ABS, is the u-joint different for non-ABS versions ? The reason I ask is a local shop put in 2 brand new U-joints and they lasted about 2 hours of wheeling before the pass/front did this (see picture below).

Also when replacing the (now broken axle and U-joint), since mine has ABS, does the replacement axle have to be ABS as well, or is it reluctor ring on the hub assembly instead of the actual axle shaft that broken when the new U-joint let loose?
