I have been running my front shaft in the rear since I finished my SYE two weeks ago. So its time to make the move and buy a drive shaft now. I have been unsuccessful finding a good shape front drive shaft for a decent price. So I figure screw it I will buy new. I know of Tom Woods but hes a little more expensive then I would like since this is a DD/ dirt road rig rather then a rock crawler.
I have found a guy on Ebay that sells them for $250 shipped. And advice or other options. thanks

You try the yards I suppose? I picked up a good one for $50.

I hate spending other people's money, but if you can, go with Tom Woods. He supports NAXJA, he's a great guy, but most importantly his stuff is reknowned for its quality. You can probably find good stuff locally if you keep looking, but you can not go wrong with TWs. I've had 3 rear driveshafts on 3 different rigs. I drag them across all kinds of rocks and what not. Never had one break, never had one go out of balance. I really can't say enough good things about them. If you don't plan on wheeling real hard then it may not be worth the money, but if you eventually see yourself on 3.5+ trails, drop the $$.
Plus I think there are some $50 off coupons floating around that he donated to every paying member of NAXJA...pretty damn cool. If your name was in red I think you could just mention being a member of NAXJA and he'd hook you up....;)
Here's a thread from a dude in a similar situation as you, wondering if it is worth the cheddar...

Any one can weld up some tube for a trail rig. Its the DD part that make you want to drop the coin. Dont know where your at but there are some local shops that can retube and balance.

I have found a few at yards but they seem to all want 75-100 for them and they are in serious need of a rebuild. So for the cost of a used shaft and a rebuild I am around 150-200 any way. I cheaped out on the steering when I first got my cherokee and now I regret it so I want to avoid this again.

I may look in to that

I couldn't agree more. I want to be able to DD this and drive 85 on the freeway with no issues so it needs to be right...

Check out Phoenix Rack and Axle (http://phxrack.com/). They quoted me a new drive shaft for under $250.

I have two spares that I had made when I traded out some work. They are new, balanced and have spicer solid core u-joints. I only need one spare because they will fit both my front and rear axle(same length). I can sell one for 170 shipped. pm me if your interested.
