Just replaced the water pump and rad hoses today, filled with 50/50 Prestone and 2 bottles of water wetter. What are your experiences with water wetter?

I just did the same thing. I don't recall the brand of water wetter but it came in a blue and white bottle from Checker Auto.
I used the Heisco water pump with a high flow thermostat (195*) and housing. I also replaced the clutch fan.

Now the temp needle stays at the point between the first mark and 210* . I assume that's 195*. I can idle forever with the ac on or whatever and the needle never goes higher.

It used to always stay at 210* or a little above. I don't know if it was the wetter or the other improvements but I'm impressed!

I've used the Redline brand water weter and have been impressed. I dropped the temp on my 96 a few degrees just by adding 1 bottle.

mine stays at 210 but in texas summer heat around 95 and up with ac going vertical the motor heats over heat point and dies..any temp under 95 with hard wheeling no probs...||charles|| http://i12.tinypic.com/2ldcdfs.jpg

Anybody notice it turning your coolant brown or sludging up your system? That's what a mechanic told me it did to their 00' XJ.

Added ww about 35k ago after backflushing my '98 w/that 7 hour prestone stuff Rich P. likes, and the backflush kit preston sells.

Back then, the flush REALLY spit out a ton of crap, and refilled w/usual mixture and ww.

Just last week dropped the antifreeze, still very clean, then backflushed again, almost no crap this time. So, I don't think ww will screw up a clean cooling system.

I should add that I added the ww w/new napa pump and fan clutch, temps dropped dramatically, I bet though that the ww combined with the other parts plus flush played an integral role in cooling her down.

btw, used ww also in two japanese bikes when I used to ride, recall that fans kicked in less at lites, easy to hear them even w/helmut.

i ran ww in my mj and never really noticed much difference. I thought I did at first, but I think that's like your new tennies make you run faster... but I never had any sludging, and I ran it for a couple of years. Better than stock water pump made a bigger difference.

I didn't replace my fan clutch, but I believe it is fine....it doesn't even make a half revolution if I turn it by hand, yadda yadda yadda.
