How do you receive money through PayPal? I have a paypal account and sold an item, the buyer say they sent the money and got an email confirming that the transaction has been "initiated" but I have to accept it or something. How do I do that? My account shows no transaction. Do I need to do a "request" through paypal. Ive been paid through paypal before but its been awhile. I dont think I had to do anything, the money was just there after the buyer sent it.

Every time I've done it...the money's just been there. I think I have to go in and accept it but it's essentially there.

IntrepidXJ,
Yea, I read through that but I couldnt find anything explaining why the buyer would get an email that said payment was "initiated". All it says is that I should get an email notice if anyone sends payment to my account., then I can receive the payment. I got no email and my account shows no activity so theres nothing there for me to receive.

then you didn't get the payment, maybe you need to update your paypal account, or if you didn't even get an e-mail confirming payment was attempted, soething is fishy, call the PP customer service line, they seem to be pretty helpful, as amazing as that sounds.

Something else just occured to me. They say they sent the money to my account a couple days ago but they also told me that their account was empty and they needed to transfer funds from another account into their paypal account. Is there a delay after tranfering funds into a paypal account from an outside account? If thats the case, do they need to resend the money to my account or will it automatically go to my account once the funds have been approved?

Yeah, if they are pulling it from lets say a bank account through paypal to you, yes it will take a few days to clear. It should automatically go to you though once cleared.

that is called an e-check, you would have been notified through paypal(your e-mail)if there were funds pending, if they are transferring funds into thier pp account then it takes 4-days, if you didn't get any notification through paypal, then the funds weren't sent nor are they pending, that is my take on the situ and I use paypal quite a bit.

Yes, but if they were loading funds into their account before sending it, that would also make up for the delay. It's a tough situation, working with Paypal on it is probably the best thing to do.

If you have doubts that it may be someone "Phishing" then you can forward the e-ml to spoof@paypal.com they will get back to you and let you know if its legit'. In your case it just like sounds like the money transfer is taking a little time.

Its taken care of. the buyer had my account number wrong, they left the first letter off. They resent it using the correct account and Ive got my money now. Thanks everyone.
