Well I certainly had a sh*tty end to an otherwise great day. Was lowering the jeep from the rear bumper (just got done with rear shackle hanger project) and the highlift handle fell, clicked, and rebounded right back...THROUGH the rear window.  now I need to try and find some rear glass...funnnn. So now I'm hitting up Carnage Boulder on Sunday with no rear window...

A few years ago, I was using my hi-lift to raise the rear for a suspension swap. I had the jack under the hitch, and everything was going fine. Well, the elevation change in the back caused my C4x4 rear swing away tire carrier to swing towards me. I reached out to stop the carrier from hitting the jack, and as I did this, my other hand slipped off the jack handle, still under load.
When my hand slipped off the loaded handle, the end of the handle caught me right square in the bottom of my chin.
Woke up on the concrete floor of my garage with a nasty cut on my chin, and a ver ygood lesson that could have ended much worse.

With some of the stupid stuff I've done I decided a loooooong time ago to never purchase a hi-lift, it's just asking for trouble... :D

I hate hi-lifts. So dangerous, but what else is there? I broke my pinky finger, and ripped of my door handle on 2 different occasions on the same day.
I would have to imagine there are a lot of people out there who feel the same way. :D

If you get a flat on the highway, exactly what kind of jack do you carry to change a tire then???

Had someone have the handle get away on them once when we were screwing around with junk vehicles in the back yard. They got the handle slammed into the brow ridge over their eye.
My wife ended up stitching him up in the kitchen. Three stitches IIRC. No local or whiskey. Luckily it was still numb from the impact.
Could have been much worse.

bottle jack under the axle
works good in some situations on the trail, too

Plug kit and on-board air.
If that doesn't do it....AAA

Gotta get me a CO2 rig. Air and tools, only way to go. Having a 1/2 IMPACT ON THE TRAIL WOULD BE A NICE PEACE OF MIND. Could mean the difference between paying to get trailered home or driving home. (if you can obtain parts of course)
