Well, we'll see who else chimes in....but I'd like him to be able to get his stuff on before Big Bear. If enough people show to make it so I'm just gonna drink beer and talk poo, then maybe I'll pass....otherwise, like I say, I can probably stay until 1 or so....just have to be in OC by dinner. My neices first communion is Sunday and my sister's going a tad overboard IMHO. =)

Didn't see this before I posted in the Desert Rats thread...:D
Must install:
-Rock Krawler 3 link upgrade (already have lift installed, just going to the 3 link instead of short arms), will require minor welding on the crush sleeves after they are inserted into the holes in frame rail.
-BPEs up front, will do these this week.
-Boomerang shackles (lowering the rear by a half inch)
-CB radio, have used CB and new Firestik with no drill fender mount. I could probably work the install myself, but I know nothing about tuning one.
Would like to install:
-D30 4.88s
-D44 rear, needs studs pressed out and moved from 5x5.5 to 5x4.5, otherwise it's ready to bolt in
-Crossover shock mount
If it's here:
-JCR sliders
So anyone who knows how to do gears and/or can bring a welder...:)
Thanks again. This should be the last year when I have a short notice build occurring. Won't have any large upgrades coming in the future, until I do a cage, but that's a ways off. :D

Dont try to press them out........ they are threaded. There is blue loctite on them so it may take some effort but they are NOT presses in.
I wont be able to make it but if there are any questions about the axle feel free to call.

so what's the head count up to now? Ya'll got too many bodies yet? It sounds like most the stuff is pretty easy. BPE's and shackles are gonna take less than a beer to install. CB can be as quick and dirty as it needs to be...I do have a SWR meter, but I assume someone out there does as well. The three link, well ne'er done that, but if it's a bolt on kit, I'm thinkin just a few hours with 2-3 bodies...if it's a weld on....well, can't help ya much with that. And gears I can't help with either. =( (Although I would like to see them done as I do plan on learning one day)
So with that said, if you guys need another set of hands, I'll be there at 9am. But if you got it covered, I may just see ya at SoCal Fest....well, if any of ya are even going that is.
Darky
April 24th, 2009, 10:52
The three link is 98% bolt on, all it needs welded are the crush sleeves through the frame, and it sounds like we have an available welder coming.
I will be at SoCal Fest with my wife, cousin and possibly brother and sister in law. Which would make for a tight fit in the XJ if all come...:)

Drove good comin home. My steering is still a little sloppy, but it was that way before. There seems to be a slight vibe around 50ish, don't recall if it was there before, Yesterday was the first time driving it on the street since mounting the 33s. Might take it out and play/test today.

I can definitely feel the difference having a hard joint at one end makes in noise vs having bushings all around. That and the reduction in trning radius are my only complaints, and really the turning radius is really the only actual complaint. With the arms wider apart, my tires hit em that much sooner. Gonna have to get some wheels that push the tires out further or something.
