I have a 1986 tt350 that I would like to add lights to and register for street use. Anyone ever do this? I have heard rumors that DMV is no longer accepting "conversions".

So, anybody done it lately?

BTW, is anything besides lights and a horn required? Speedo?

TT 350?
Already has lighting coil right?
We did that a bit back in the day...but I don't know what it takes today.
I see some dirt bikes out on the street out here all the time...so there must be a way of doing it, it may require you registering it at an off road friendly DMV. El Centro?

Yeah, has a headlight and taillight. I figured on just adding some blinkers and a horn. I know it used to be fairly popular to do, but someone told me the DMV no longer allows it? DMV website is worhtless on the matter.

It depends if it (the model) was ever DOT approved. Also most states will not allow knobby tires. Many require reflectors as well now.

I used to run quite a few enduro's in the 70's and we had to be street legal.

Damn! YOU are old! ;)
The last enduro I ran was in '83 and there were motocross bikes with roll charts and odos off junk enduro bikes!

According to http://www.electrosport.com/electrosport_conversion.html

to convert a dirt bike in California you have to register it in another state.

Thanks for the link...That exactly what I wanted to know. I guess I won't bother, seems like a big hassle just to ride on a few extra roads.

Try asking for info here: http://www.district37ama.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5
They mess with that stuf all the time. I've been told the older stuff can still be done.
