TC, we did holy cross, the blue jeep is rosco, remember him, he was there when i rolled my jeep. his jeep is a lot bigger. he rolled on holy cross up above the city. we had to leave it overnight as it wouldn't start. the next day we got it to start and run for 3 seconds then it would die. finally strapped it down the moutain, running every so often so that hydro steer...would steer...
kejtar....that pic was taken right before the jeep rolled onto the pass side, then the roof, then back on to the drivers side....

roscoe needs to get himself an orbital valve that steers with out the pump assist if he's gonna roll so often
macgyvr
September 5th, 2003, 19:35
well when it was towed on the access road out of the trail, it would steer, but not when being towed down the trail and through the rocks....

rolled which one?
as of this trip mine was rolled once in april of 2001, roscos was put on its side in attica a few months ago and in his front yard a couple of times, the camo wasn't rolled before or during moab.

honestly, does roscoe still think its bad-azz to roll or something?
I can see rolling ont he waterfall, but the hottub?
macgyvr
September 11th, 2003, 18:05
He wasn't trying to roll in the hot tub, he was trying to get out of it, its the one that everyone rolls in now before Mickeys. And its not that he's trying to on the trail, he just tries hard stuff, you should've seen the lines he was trying on potato salad hill, its amazing that he didnt roll it there, he aint scared and laughs everytime it happens.....
btw, the camo jeep, rolled once on its side in roscos front yard the other night, then once on its roof, then once on its side in my back yard, all climbing trees.... the body is screwed and we were drunk, but I kept my jeep safely parked in the garage. So the camo jeep is getting the roof cut off either tonight or tommorrow night and a cage is going in, it will be a beater like WonTon, tho he still has a few more payments to make before its paid off.

I only wish I had an OUNCE of his fearlessness, but if he challenged himself to try an NOT roll, I think he'd only get better than he already is.
BTW, I think when you see what tun's been up to, you won't be referring to his junk as a "beater"
macgyvr
September 11th, 2003, 18:29
well on the trail I dont think it is trying to roll cause this trip was really the first real roll his jeep has done on the trail....but three in five days really takes a toll.
and when I refer to his junk, its in the same context that many refer to your mom's welding....
and by all means, i bow to his jeep and only wish mine could even come close in strenth and trail worthlyness....

that's about the most cutting I've seen on an xj, so tell me...
what does that unibody feel like now?
is it weaker than you ever thoguht it would be? or is it stronger?
that sheet metal above the floorboards is a joke, isn't it?
macgyvr
September 15th, 2003, 20:32
Its definately not as weak or flimsy as I thought it would be...
I haven't jumped on the jeep in the middle of it or anthing, but it still seems pretty strudy...
he's going to put a cage in it and wheel it till he gets it paid for then save for something with a frame....

seriously, start screwing around with it.
this is an excellent time to learn more about the unibody, which you could apply to yours if you decide to cut....
I'm damn curious.
I wish I was closer so I could get my moon walk awn.....
go jump on that thang

my roommate should be home anytime from work....that and i've got a really good beer buzz right now....so one of us will go jump on it and see how much she flexes....
and i have been scoping out what he's cut, i've got a couple of idea how i want to cut mine, and i've been looking at his to see how the pop can is put together.....

well i ended up getting hammered that night and we did jump on what's left of the XJ. And my 250 pds just made the suspension move, the unibody still seemed to be way more stiff than i expected.
As it goes, he's gonna plate the uniframe, add a cage, and add a rear crossmember to go btw the rear leaf spring mounts, and wheel the heck out of it....
mac 'no guts to cut mine up that much' gyvr

So, what size tires is the X-less J running? They look pretty small next to those 42's. Are they 36's or just 33's?
Hard to tell, and just wondering
Thanks
Looks good. You guys will have to come wheel over here in Illinois sometime
