different wheel widths front to back

is there any reason why i couldn't fit 7x15 up front and 8x15 on the rear of my 2001 XJ ??

Is it 2wd, 4wd - if so which transfer case, stock, lifted, lowered, etc, etc.

4wd, stock but not sure on transfer case..

its only i have the offer of a set of extremely cheap rims.

If you don't have full time 4wd I don't think it would be a problem at all in 2wd, and the only way I could see 4wd having a problem is if the extra width of the rear wheels significantly changes the outer diameter of the tires.

I think It should be fine as long as the tires are all the same size

thats what i was thinking,

this is their spec:

8j Wheels ET -12 (4" backspace)
7j Wheels ET 0 (4" backspace)
