Electric cooling fan?

My 98 elecric cooling fan comes on imediately upon cold start up and continuously cycles on off about every 5 to 10 seconds.I dont think this is right.I just bought this and dont know whats normal.What controls the fan? Thanks

Make sure the air conditioning or the defrost is NOT turned on, as this will let the a/c clutch cycle as you described.

Umm why with the defroster? A/C I can understand, but the defroster?

When the defroster is on it uses the AC system as an air dryer to remove moisture from the air.

Thats great, my windows are always fogged in the morning, and I have to wait for ever for the windows to deforst, because I removed the relay when I went to a manual switch.
