Well after replacing seemingly every part under the hood including a new head the block decided to crack on me. I decided to bite the bullet and just buy a reman engine and do the swap. I wasn't about to put another penny into the original enigne. It was killing me. I got the new motor on Wednesday and spent the rest of the week getting everything out of the way and pulling the cracked block out. I transfered all the parts from the old engine that were not provided with the reman. I have the new engine hanging from the Cherry picker inside the engine bay ready to be hooked up. I spent all day trying to finess the egine into place and line it up with the tranny. I have realized that doing that alone is next to impossible. I was trying my best to not ask for help since I have had multiple guys from NAXJA help me in recent months with other huge repairs and I felt like I was taking advantage of this site. Unfortunately I am out of optoins, exhausted and frusturated and am calling it quits until I can get someone to help me. If anyone out there has some free time in the next few days I could really use some help. I need someone operating the hoist so I can bolt the eninge up. The rest I can do on my own if you can only afford an hour or two. Unfortunately due to all the recent repairs I am flat broke so paying you is not an option, but I have plenty of food and beer to go around. Call me if you can help. Thanks. My name is Brad (909) 794-0857

I'm 100 miles away but just giving my 2 cents. Its tough with the splinned shaft that has a tight fit even when you move the engine to the right angle then the hight is off a little. For shure best with two people.
Make certain(prime oil pump) you turn the oil pump shaft(with oil in the engine/clockwise and or counterclockwise)untill you feel alot of drag cause it won't run right without oil pressure.(hydrolic lifter's).:anon:I Know.
I had my girlfriend(running the hoist) helping me line the engine up and it was fighting me for a good hour.:smsoap:
If I were closer I'd be there :)
Good luck, Greg

I tried calling you last night. You didn't answer, so I assumed you were gone. I just changed the radiator, water pump, thermostat and fan clutch and was going to give it a good test driving up the hill to your place to see if you still needed some help.

If you still need help tonight let me know. I can come up after work.

You will have to run a TV to the garage though so I can keep an eye on the NCAA championship game. My Spartans are going to take it.

I wasn't gone I was actually out in the garage pulling my hair out. I spent all day trying to get the engine and tranny to line up to no success. If you are still free, I could really use your help when you get off work. Let me know if your still interested.

BTW, I already have the game set up to record and I will have a TV in the garage as well. I am a huge basketball fan. I am not too excited about the final two teams but I am glad that someone will be rooting for Michigan State. It will make things a little more fun.

Hi, just curious, manual or automatic. If manual did you use a guide tool during installation of the disk and PP? If not this can make mating impossable and drive you nuts to boot. IMHO

If you are still planning on coming up, you better call me first. The directions to my house can get real tricky. The house is new and the last two streets are not lableled. (909) 794-0857

Things are going great. After you guys left we worked for a couple more hours. When I came out in the morning I almost killed myself. As I was starting to bolt stuff back up I noticed that the Tranny breather valve had gotten wedged between the engine and tranny. I tried to loosen everything up and yank it out but all I did was shear it off. The valve fell down into the bell housing. Vince came up the next night and helped me some more. The valve was crushed beyond recongnition so I am currently on the hunt for a replacement valve. The engine is now good to go and about 1/2 of the accessory stuff is back on. I should Finish tomorrow (Thursday) If you are still planning on going to Jenks Friday, I would love to Join you. Maybe we could even run over to the lake in my Jeep. I will keep my fingers crossed on that one. I really want to dust off the float tube and get out on the lake again.

Yikes! Why do Jeeps have to fight you EVERY second of the way? Glad to hear it is progressing, though. :)

I appreciate your advice. It was your knowledge that allowed me to adjust the canshaft position sensor and finally get it started.
