'Don't think Ive ever seen a manufactured tube bumper for a Cherokee. They all seem to be bent up/welded sheet and plate.

...,maybe because almost every formal class of racing a Cherokee can compete in requires the factory bumper skin.:dunno:

I really like RockMonkeys, although its not something you can buy off the shelf. At some point I think Im going to try and redo my own bumper with something like his.

It's been my plan to use his as a base ever since I saw it. I think I'll do the tube portion a little different though.

OR Fab makes a nice looking one. (At least I think it's OR Fab.) I saw it in the Quadratec catalog for XJs. It ought to be on their website.

EDIT: It is. Clicky me (http://www.quadratec.com/products/product_search.php?pn=72025.800.07,72025.801.07&cn=OR-Fab+Front+Rock+Slider+Bumpers&c=47)

Here is a place on Ebay! Bought a set. You will have to prep them and paint but overall they are really nice, good quality work! The rear bumper was sealed and I just tapped it for a air tank!

No offense, but those bumpers look half-assed. The rear looks too small. The front looks like no thought was put into it and was just slapped on there.

Both of the first ones work out of their garage, you'll probably get better prices from them, the second two are full blown shops. So you decide.

We've done some prerunner styles in the past. Was in negotiations with someone who planned on running JeepSpeed last year to sponsor their rig by building bumpers, but sounds like everything fell through for them. It's something I'd be interested in.

I can't find any of the old prerunner ones, but last year we did a couple "different" winch bumpers. This one was based on the customer's design.

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/AJsArmor/Picture368.jpg

Another customer wanted a lightweight version of the SlikRok, think I shaved it down to around 60lbs.

My bumper is being built right now at the Pirate Lab. Here are the mounting brackets that were fabbed up. The front should be done today... I will throw up some pics when it is complete.

http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/showthread.php?t=93508&highlight=piratelab

There's quite a few threads like that over on DR. Just look out for number one first, if it's not right say something.

Looks nice so far though

Good looking out Jim... I just read all of the threads, funny thing is I did homework before going there and never found anything on Race-Dezert or a few other sites I read.

Regardless, Mike has been really cool so far and his work seems pretty good. I dropped off my heep in the moring and the front bumper was being finished the same night, he even sent me pictures all day yesterday throughout the fab process. I am pretty stoked so far looking at the pictures, I'm on my way over to go check things out in person.

This is what is done so far as of 9PM last night (not complete yet)

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n270/dabgpimp/BumperSkidPlate.jpg

Regardless, Thanks for the head's up and I will just QC things a little more now.

Niiiiiice, it looks really good dude! You gonna do a top hoop or no? I've thought about building a new one without the top hoop, just a low profile sleek simple bumper with 3 lights across the front.

Agreed, that always looks clean.
I'm also a fan of the stock bumper with a clean light bar mounted to it. Just looks complete to me. (for a pre-runner)

I decided to go with the Pirate Lab for a couple reasons...

I spoke with Mike on the phone and he seemed like a pretty good guy. He sent me pictures of some of his work so the next day I went to check out his work and I was pretty impressed. The shop is pretty close to my house so that was a selling point as well.
