Well it is official. Here is the headline and the link:

How much does this affect our off-roading areas?

The wilderness designation will close any existing roads that go through these lands.

The maps that I have seen show huge amounts of land being closed off, but I'm not aware of any 'destination areas' that we have that are effected, but I'd bet there are a few.

But there may just be a glimmer of hope for us because of all this land grabbing going on. There is now a push to create the Mother Road National Monument (or National Preserve.) It is sometimes called the Route 66 Park.
Its intent is to lock up some of the desert to prevent solar and wind turbine farms from being built, but it also has a provision that will designate Johnson Valley as a National Vehicle Recreation Area. That would prevent the Marines from being able to expand into JV. We may just see a proposal from Sen. Feinstein within the next month.

We will see....

(When I get a decent link for information regarding this, I'll post it up here as well as in the land access forum.)

This is being pushed by a number of groups who don't even like off roading but understand the $$$ it brings into a area. The rout 66 preservation society (which my Dad is a member of) has enlisted a whole flock of other organizations for about 6 years now and it is finally making some head way. :yelclap::clap:party1:

I'm still anticipating some sort of bait and switch on that Route 66 bill.
