1989 xj rear end help

i got a D35 in my jeep it is making some nastey sounds i believe the carrier is going out.
I plan to replace the whole rear end with a D44

My question is will a D44 bolt up to everything?
Is the yoke the same? Will i have to mess with the driveshaft any?

I appreciate any help :chef:
 
If the D44 is out of an XJ, it will bolt up. Look for 87-90 XJs, without ABS. Mainly 87's.
 
It might also help to know that the auto tranny is 1" longer than the manual. If you have a manual, then swapping in a junkyard auto shaft might work. Or if your lifted then this might end up balancing out.
