Thanks to all the rain this evening/night, Lake Langstraat now occupies my front yard, back yard, driveway, garage, some of my basement, alley and street. Up to a foot and more in some places.......and it's still raining. What a fawkin night!

Uploading a few pics, but they didn;t come out so well in the rain and dark. Post them in a few......

Yeah, I had some flooding, too.

The street flooded here last night. Prolly about 8-10 inches at the gutters. I had a good time watching people drive thru the insta-lake there. There was one casualty, a Ford Taurus.

I got tired of watching everyone else have fun, so I jumped in my Jeep to drive thru. Some frat boy tried to direct traffic and motioned for me to turn around. I acted like I had no idea what was going on, and once the road was clear of drunkards and cars I drove thru the water at a brisk pace. Not the best idea, b/c the water blinded me as it splashed onto my windshield. I guess I got alot of the frat boys wet and they were pissed :(

This morning in the school paper it had a pic of the street and said the truck was sitting in 2 feet of water. It was an older Dakota with stock sized tires, and the water didn't even come to the bottom of the hub. I was unaware that Dakotas came with 54" tires. I guess you learn something everyday.

I was having fun driving through puddles.
then I found out I had a loose hydraulic clutch hose.
popped off. I was stranded. Hmmmm...
I found another reason why we keep our women. :D

good news is that I don't think anything that shouldn't get wet did......and the basement looks alright after it dried out......so I guess I got lucky

so I guess I got lucky

you could say that...

The estimate from the guys rebuilding my basement was 25K. Our share of that is the deductable, $500.

Glad it was covered.
