WHO'S IN???
RE: Reiter Cleanup Reminder (http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97756)
Since there isn't a formal thread started discussing who/where/when for this group, I'll start.
I will be pulling out of the Seatac area by 6:30 and plan on having breakfast at the Dutch Cup Restaurant in Sultan by 7:30 am.
Plan on heading out to be at Reiter (in Goldbar) by 8:45 (leave the Dutch Cup at 8:30)
CB will be on Channel 4
We will be wheeling after trail cleanup and lunch. Great opportunity for NAXJA members to interact, socialize, and wheel with other Northwest Clubs. Plan on seeing a variety of rigs (besides Jeeps) and a quite diverse crowd.
The best thing is, you DO NOT have to be a member or even own a rig to come along! This is an OPEN event to ALL.
It would really be exciting to see a strong NAXJA Northwest representation (hell, we get 10 to 12 rigs at every event these days - even the NOOB runs!). If you don't have a rig this weekend, come anyway and we will find an open seat for ya. There's plenty of parking for daily drivers in the lower lot.
If you would like to caravan with me, let me know and we will arrange it. Otherwise, we can either meet for breakfast or at the event.
See ya there!

I'm stuck at work in seattle till 1, I might head out there just to meet up with some people after that but I doubt any wheeling.

I still dont have 100% conformation. Odds are still good though I'l be there. Cetainly not by 9 though. I just have to convince the wife and the jeep that 3/4 october weekends should be spent wheeling.

I'll be there, you can read my rant on the other thread to see why.
I don't know about everyone else, but I like to run a few trail after the clean up so even if you can't make it all that early you could still run some trails with everyone afterwards. Heck we could call it the Pre-Noobfest run, clean up in the morning and then run some trail in the afternoon.

I got the whole day off from work tomorrow so I will be there around 8:30-9 at the main staging area. If you want to meet up look for the maroon xj on 35's, and if someone has a open seat i could use a ride since my front driveshaft didnt get finished and I never got around to trimming for my new tires. Deffinately gonna be there, not too sure on when. If I don't get too drunk tonight I'll wake up early, go get a trailer, swap out my TC seal and head up. I figure 11 if I'm responsible. That's pretty sweet though, 8 NAXJA guys out for a cleanup. Could be more...but it could certainly be less. See you guys up there.

Well, I had axle probablems this morning so was late getting there. I hear it was a good turnout though, KarlVP kept telling me about how "those XJ guys just left" every time I got to camp.
I heard you guys had a good time on Isabel though. I went up that way as far as the bridge but the guys I was with didn't want to go any further so we turned back at that point. Saw 2 NAXJA members just before the bridge on Isabel though, both where driving some nice looking late model Cherokees.

Hehe, that was me and Sniggs, running with fear from the rock garden on the other side of the bridge (at least I was). A little too "much" for my noobie blood.
Good times! It was good bumping into you on the trail.

I tore up the belly pretty good on the rocks. Thankfully I had the Tcase Skid. The skid, the muffler, and rear driveshaft took the brunt. The rear driveshaft is toast. :explosion
I was fortunate enough to get within a mile of my house before trouble began...heep started shaking VIOLENTLY in the rear...forget vibe -This sucker was SHAKING!!!
I got it slowed and crawled home (10 mph) it's in the garage. DS has to come off to send to Tom Woods for replacement... perhaps tomorrow.
I'll look at it more in the morning... Nothing is leaking (yet). I'll see...
We had a great time with the VERY diverse crowd of folks there today. BIG turnout for the cleanup. Eli and I were the only members from NAXJA participating in the cleanup but two people is a good start, I guess.
Fun outing - I won't be fixed in time for Tahuya, however.

That sucks Mark. I got some damage too. Front pass fender more smashed than before, LCA mount on axle fawkered a bit, more rocker smashes, flares smashed/torn, lots of rock rash, and possible front DS fawked too. It was very fun, I had a great time. And thanks for RTW for putting on a great clean up and providing lunch for all of us. Pictures to come by tomorrow.

Just got home....that's a helluva drive. I got a really nice scraping dent on the passenger 1/4 panel and god only knows what the drivetrain took on those rocks. Had fun though. Hey Jay you've got nothing to be ashamed of, you wheeled great out there....I would have never guessed that was your first time.

Yeah well, I had great guides the whole way up. No way I could have gotten over either of those two obstacles without you guys showing me the way. Mark (Sniggs) also took the brunt of the pain on the way down by taking the lead and guiding me. Thanks to all!!
All in all, one helluva time for my cherry-popping session; just wish I had gotten my butt out of Tacoma in time to do some cleanup. I did take a chunk of broken tail-light off the trail, so does that count?
I even got home in time to watch the Mets sweep the Dodgers!!

Ya, Isabel is one of the tougher trails at Reiter. Just to make it as far as you guys did on fairly stock rigs says alot. The guy in the YJ that came up with me was locked in the rear and on 35s and he had trouble in a couple of places.

I've run Isabelle twice, and a couple other trails, but it was so long ago I coudn't tell you where they were. I seem to rememeber Sac-up and "BYS" IIRC.
I too wish I'd been able to get there earlier, but I honestly thought you'd still be cleaning after 12:15 when I got there. Not that it would have mattered much with my two broken ribs...I was pretty pathetic.

Beat Your Sh!t (BYS) and a few others are trails I never run so I wasn't counting them. The buggy guys run them but I've never gone very far into them. I always decided that I would prefure to drive not walk home so maby this wasn't such a great idea. There's one just of Isabel I believe callled "danger" or some such thing. Karl was saying yesterday that he went about 10 feet down it and turned back. And if you have ever seen Karl's rig you know he doesn't turn back lightly.
As for a run, I'm up for it. I only live an hour from Reiter (im in Kirkland) so any time people are up for it I'm game. Back door and Stack-up are usually what we run with diverse groups, they have some good obsticles, but everything has a by-pass so the little guys can make it through also. Thats what makes Isabel so much harder, there's not really any by-passes so if your open-open and on 31" you can't take a by-pass and keep going.
We can plan another run to Reiter after Tahuya if people are interested.

Heck we worked so hard, I took some of the trash home with me! KarlVP was maning the dumpsters and snaged an XJ front bumper for me that someone had collected. Brought it home with me incase I ever need it, It's even got the end caps on it!

I just want to chime in here and thank EVERYONE that participated in the cleanup. If you don't know we filled that dumpster to the brim with trash. Retrieved about 40 tires from the woods, a refridgerator, a couple TV's and some other assorted electronics.
Not to mention pretty much a whole XJ body kit, assorted metal and that van that Hip, Crusty, and Greg drug out.
You all did a fantastic job. I would also like to thank the waste management guys and gals. They were just there to run the dumpsters and heavy equipment but they were out using thier PERSONAL vehicles to help us clean up Reiter Trails. Kudos to those guys, next time you see them buy them a beer.
Also thanks to Ed and Katie Tenney and the Timber Tamers for bringing the grille and cooking. Thanks also to Ann T. and Kelly (Broncochick) for getting us the food. Also thanks to all the donations that came in for not only food, but Mrs. C's co-worker who has suffered a tragic loss.
Finally, thanks again to everyone who came, donated money, time, and effort. You all did a kick ass job and we got A LOT of work done. It is efforts like this that keep our trails open.
THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Yeah, that trail is called the "Trail of Doom" pretty much it has two "goalpost" trees you have to squeeze your rig through. Put easily, if you are in a CJ or Wrangler body style, there go your fender flares, mirrors and you will have creased your hood pretty well. XJ? Kiss your mirrors and door handles goodbye. That is just the entrance to the trail.
There is also a trail called "The Bonus Line" that is not for the timid. Body damage very likely.
Fifo and I would love to lead a run in the coming days. My rig will be back on all fours by this Friday and it will be ready for more beatings.

Great pics, good turnout!
This place on the powerlines is the same spot I flopped, although mine was in the SNOW. Do some searching on SNORT or NW-Wheelers and you can find pics of at least 6 other rigs flopping/rolling in the exact same spot, it's VERY deceiving.
