Cracked head?

F- my life. I had a loss of power and was running about 150*f. So I decided I'd drop the $10 and replace the t-stat. This is what I found.

What do I do now? Is slitting my wrists too drastic?

Seriously - That doesn't look that bad. seems like you could plug that with something somehow - some waterweld maybe?

I had one of those too, it made so much HP is sucked the t-stat into the block.

sorry couldn't resist, but atleast you caught it before it starts knocking.

Aside from the missing thermostat and bad valve cover gasket, I can't make out anything noteworthy in the pictures. What are we supposed to be seeing?
