I installed a 97 ZJ 4.0 in a 92 XJ over the weekend.
Engine runs great, auto tranny shifts perfect.

But there's a noise coming from the torque converter
area and further checking shows that the flywheel
may be bent. I haven't a clue how this happened.

I have a 97 ZJ 4.0 42RE flywheel part # (52118257)
and noticed that this same part # also is listed
on the WJ RE42 tranny, 97-TJ 30RH tranny.
But the 00XJ AW4 part # is different(82118551)

Can anyone verify a fly wheel part # for the 92 XJ 4.0 auto?
If it's different - anyone have a 92 AW4 flywheel?
Thanks
Eddie

Just so there's no confusion...

Automatic= Flexplate

Manual= Flywheel

There's no confusion. I was very specific.

"Flex Plate Automatic Flywheel For 1991-95 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L"

Just cause it says "Flywheel" doesnt mean that it is. It just makes searching for part easier on their site for people who dont know the differnce.

I've got a flexplate in my 92 4.0/Auto (stock motor and tranny).

If the flexplate is bent get another one out of the pick and pull to see if it was just a prebent flexplate, not the tranny/engine combo, you might have "bumped" the flexplate on install.

If it bends that one too you might have a more involved problem than you thought. Other than that I cant help you, might help in your searching though!

Good luck!
(sorry my spelling kinda sucks sometimes)
