Overhead console wires

Hello all, first post here, I have spent weeks searching and learning and have purchased a 96 caravan o/h console for my 2001 xj classic, I have read several times that the harness for the console is under the passenger kick plate, I pulled it off today and there seems to be no such harness, all plugs are being used, a few female pugs are empty but no wound up harness. Pulled the current light pod down from head liner and theres a plug for the lights and 1 for the power locks, am I missing something here? I read that all late model xj's were wired for console ready for trip/compass and temp, but I cant find mine. AM I missing something. thank in advance.
