so as most of you know...i am currently employed at BIG O tires up in Woody P.
i enjoy my job...its simple...days go by fast and the people i work with are fun....
but for the $9/hour im making....i deal with too much stupid Chit!
im a tire tech and get paid accordingly.....but i sell tires for our salesmen, do mechanic work(balljoints hub assemblies, front end parts) and THEY all get paid on my efforts.....:twak:
and im kinda over it...

sooooooo...

if any of you notice a decent openin in the warehousing.merchandising fields, or in something a long the lines of motorcycle sales or whatever...let me know...
i drive 70miles round trip each day so if the job/money is right, driving a bit further wont be an issue...

thanks guys:cheers:

Jeezus..... Yeah Mike, you need to move up. You present yourself very well - well spoken, professional attitude, motivated, good work ethic. You should definitely be the guy selling and working with the customers, not bustin' beads and lugs all day.

Tough times for job searching, but I wish you the best of luck. If you think a reference from me would be beneficial, I'm more than willing.

Have you given any thought to getting into one of the trade union apprentice programs ; electrical , carpenter ,mill wright , operating engineers ,,,that sort of thing ,you can do a online search and get some idea of the requirements and what the work picture looks like or maybe someone on the forum may know

Yeah no kidding Mike...I was making $11.50 when I "left" Discount Tire due to my surgery. I plan on going back pretty soon as a rehire of sorts...and I'm going to make sure I see $12 not long after I come back.

70 miles? Jeebus...I though ya were living up there now...not commuting every day!

X2.... I just got laid off yesterday. Today is my last day of work for who knows how long...

Turns out, the GC i do sub work for found a bunch of new guys (illegals) who will work for 9 bucks an hour. Quality will go right out the door, but what do they care?

Starting my business back up this week... figured i would give it a shot. This economy is just pitiful. :search:

my owners freaked i was gonna leave....we will see how i goesThat right there is one of my pet peeves. You are good enough to recognize when you are looking for change, but your contribution up until then???

I had one manager go to bat for me when I told him I was looking around. I didn't see much headroom where I was, all of a sudden I'm worth $3-$4 an hour more. I wondered how many times I'd have to threaten quitting before it came true. The change was good for me.

I hope this goes well for you.
