Timber

I decided to change my CB location a while ago and just got around to rewiring it. The coax. cable is much shorter now, so I looked for my SWR meter. When I found it, it had the jumper connected to both the antenna and radio sides. And it doesn't work now. Would that have screwed the meter up? I don't remember doing that to it, but I've done goofier things. I also got out my VOM and checked the components in the meter, and they seemed to read fine. Any ideas? I guess if I have to get a replacement, it's no big deal, at ~$20, but I bought it (instead of borrowing one) thinking that money would amortize itself over the years of use I'd get out of it.
