Oaky my neighbours to the South and Northwest (Alaska) I am wondering if you could tell me what the deal is with 4x4ing in the US on Federal/State & Municipal Land? Who is against it and what do they do to get it shut down?, What is the Seirra Club all about? and why do they seem to be a PIA? Who else is hampering the fun of us 4wheelers? Here in Ontario we do have some issues but not that many........

Just want to know where is a good place to wheel and what parts of the US is in danger to having areas that once where used by local 4wheelers shut down?

Any info on this would be great!

For those of us out west it is a huge issue. Public lands are all we have to wheel on.

The East Coast lost theirs a long time ago. Now if you live that way about the only place you will have to wheel is on Private Property.

Moab, The Rubicon, Johnson Valley and almost anywhere else out here is Federal public property and we are in a constant battle against the likes of the Sierra club, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, and about a thousand other so called "environmentalist" groups.

The sad thing is most of the members of these groups sit in an office in New York or somewhere and look at pictures of what we have out here and think it should be taken away from all of us.

Most of them have never even been to the places they are trying so hard to close off to the average Joe.

It's a very passionate issue on both sides of the fence. Unfortunately for the common man, the anti-access groups are loud, noisy and very well funded. The squeaky wheel is the one that gets the grease.

I know most of you have heard it before but you need to listen anyway.

If you want your trails to stay open
GET INVOLVED AND MAKE NOISE NOW!!!

Call your Senator, join a group like BRC or USA-ALL. Groups like these are the only ones fighting for your right to wheel where you want.

For those of you who never do anything to help keep areas like Moab open...when they get closed...It's on your head.

Jeff check out the website of the Blue Ribbon Coalition www.sharetrails.org

They are one of the leaders fighting for land access in the US.

There are thousand of miles of dirt roads and trails available to use on public lands, but that decreases every year. The anti-access groups fight year after year for more closures to vehicle access and for the creation of more and more Wilderness.

Every state in out nation has someplace to wheel, some on private lands where you have to pay an entrance fee, others on public lands. It's hard to say which area is in the greatest danger of shutting down. Fortunately the off-roads groups are getting organized and are fighting back.
