I plan to donate a turkey next year.
thanks to all for the great food and venison.
glad the Frankenspare is out of my garage.
I lost count how many liquor bottle caps went into the fire.
there are a few less "noobs" in the MWC - welcome.
I don't know if I have a sun burn, wind burn or bonfire burn.
thanks to all that helped with the raffle and all the raffle item donators.
54 XJ's is that for real?
what a great group...like we said before, this is a MWC social
event, the wheeling is just an intermission.
anybody interested in gathering at the Badlands in April or May?
Thanks everyone...

- Every time I read one of BIGSVLRXJ's posts I'm going to hear a radio announcer voice in my head.
- Warm weather for WF is great.
- Most of Green and White can be run in 2lo with a rear locker.
- Rev knows some good trails in the ATV area.
- ATV guys get irritated when Jeeps are on "their" trails.
- The RMCL makes registration run really smoothly.
- I am preferred over Hale for a roommate :D
- Chrome may not get you home, but wood bumpers are Attica Tested ™.

You gotta learn your capabilities before you know what you can and can't do.
Rob, I got pumped just being around you. You were excited all weekend, that that's awesome. I wish we could have spent more time on the trail together. Thanks for bringing your Bob too. I really enjoyed him being there. Good kid. Maybe he can drive next year! Oh, and next time,.....bring Tess.:D
Now,.............. I gotta go find one of those hats.;)

I learned that hay and straw are not the same thing... who knew
Jello shots and tequila are lethal to me
Don't cough around the campfire
Hanging around with old and new friends is the best part of Winterfest

Oh, things learned....
There is room for 2 black guys at a WF campfire.
Rev's super duty is a Texas truck.
Deer disappears very quickly at MWC events.
Several safety green hoodies can ruin a good photo.
Trav. likes his brownies.
A tent can have a "waterbed like" floor.
Electrical gremlins live in Attica.
Some poor guy spent an extra 10K for a Rubicon sticker that didn't work. (At least he was a cool guy.)
Kim still likes the skinny pedal and utilizes his custom floor drains very well.
Trav. will hop in a Jeep and make a pass on the woman in the passanger seat if you tell him to.
TP sensors are a PIA.
4.88's & 33's can get you almost 17mpg.
Motor Coach One is plush. Thanks again to Sean and Lar!
A WF campfire cannot be stopped by Mother Nature.
I'm sure I'll remember more....I'm too tired to think.
cardboard
March 8th, 2009, 18:58
Rev knows how to stoke a Bonfire.
McGyver can make a mean jello shot.
There are places on Green that will roll a Jeep.
A WF bonfire will burn rain or shine!!!
Lastly, Rev will chase you across a parking lot if he really wants to talk to you!!!

I learned that i should trust my Jeep it'll point me in the right direction
...... that my CB antenna sucked(glad i got a new one)
...... not to listen to Collin
...... that sliders are worth their weight in gold
...... the campground at badlands get bad when its wet
...... an air mattress and comfy sleeping bag in the back is the way to go!
Rev Den
March 8th, 2009, 19:32
The correct way to park a trailer at the motel is to BACK it in, not pull thru the field.
BOBs winch will pull 20K lbs of truck and trailer out of the mud.
The "smack the alternator" trick DOES work....but you may have to do it several times.
A dead optima is DEAD.
There are ladies named Amber, that are not porn stars (as far as we know :D)
Susie can't handle 5 Jello shots, and three slugs of tequila.
Tater has a new expanded nickname....and its a verb....but you had to be there.
WF registration can be a dog-eat-dog event.
Rev

BOB can spot for me any day
I'll tail gun for seanR anytime
"SLARM" is a technical term when used while wheeling with seanR and & myself
Collin and AJ can stay up for 48 hours straight and then drive straight through to WF
Kim has more tools/supplies in his van then a MAC tools dealer
JJ and I can be the last 2 standing in the rain at the camp fire
egghead can wheel the bag off his rig with little lift and finding the right lines
XJSTRYKER and his boy had permanent smiles for at least 48 hours :D
Macgyvr likes to frolic in the hay (had to be there)
Jello shots, tequila, southern comfort, jack daniels and a plethora of mixed beers will make for one hell of a hang over for the 9 hour drive home.....
The MWC can polish off 10# of nacho cheese w/o any problems!!
Jason from Rough Country will trade a set of new shocks for one fried turkey leg!!!
and last but certainly not least...the camp fire IS the place to be at 1:30 in the morning in the rain with some good friends
looking forward to next year and doing it all over again!!

Things I learned at my first but definitely not last Winterfest...
-Staying up for 24 hours before a 10 hour drive in a lifted Jeep is almost suicide (literally).
-Attica Inn is the way to go and is not half as bad as I initially anticipated. Splitting the room between 4 people isn't nearly as bad as originally anticipated until after the Saturday night campfire when Cheese Man drank too much...
-The MWC is full of some really awesome guys, yet I only got to meet a handful face to face.
-Mark's stock height XJ Country with only a rear locker goes everywhere my Jeep with 33"s goes.
-Shirts and stickers are awesome, and I need to bring more money next year for them.
-I will be buying more raffle tickets next year, probably in excess of $100.
-Kim's snorkle is made of drainage pipe but is fully functional and CHEAP!
-Byron's got a custom washer bottle holder that consists of an old bent license plate (its awesome!).
-I will not go through deep alternator-killing mud/water ever again....(wait, who am I kidding?)
-Rev's trick of hitting your alternator with a hammer works some of the time (in my case it did, whoooo, thanks Rev!)
-Winterfest 2009 was awesome, I can't wait to do it again guys!
Oh and Bob, I'd be down for that April/May gathering if you guys do it. I'll drive the 7 hours again hands down, keep us posted.

March 8th, 2009, 20:46
Things I learned:
-A truck bed with a cover can actually be pretty cozy... when the weather is decent.
-5 Kringle might be enough for next year, and people still don't know what they are every time I bring them. (They'll be there next year too)
-Just because your Jeep can go through the mud, doesn't mean your truck can.
-People from Wisconsin CAN count... at least to about 15 or so.
-Bob's daughter can count, she knew exactly which ticket was for the CTM's.
-Lockers are worth every penny.
-The MWC has the best members, or at least we all think so after a few drinks around the fire. Seriously though, great time and I'm happy to have seen some familiar faces and meet a few new ones. I'm slow with names but I'll get 'em. While the wheeling is great and I have a blast doing it I still love to hang out with everyone and spend time together.

Kim has more tools and spare parts in his van than a Jeep Dealership
Rev's bumper doubles as a dancing girl stage
Tyler is an excellent gunner.
A bunch of guys with small lifts and ATs kicked ass on the Orange trail.
With every trip, the book value of my jeep goes down, but the price I would take for it goes up.
I only got stuck twice, both times at home with the Ramada.
My neighbors think I am crazy.
Mac's girlfriend couldn't be scared off by us.
When Wheeler sleeps, he looks like a corps
65 mile per hour cross wind gusts will make Lar nervous.
Driving 131 miles in 7 hours gives you an average of 18 miles per hour.
12 hours home from Attica makes for a LLLOOONNNGGG day.
I was worth every bit of it to see the best friends a guy could ask for!

Warm weather makes for better Winterfest wheeling but rain makes for a worse campfire.
No matter how big a campfire is when it's raining you will get wet.
Not having any rain gear sucks when it's raining.
Not having any rain gear when it's raining and there is a campfire keeps you from having a hang over the next day.
Buses may not be pretty but they are warm and dry!
30mph headwinds = 45mph in a bus!
Rain can turn to snow if you keep driving north.
You don't have to win a lot at a raffle so long as you win something good.
If someone says people from WI can't count or read numbers they may regret it shortly.
CTM's sure are pretty.
If you need to make an emergency pit stop after winning CTM's be sure to take them with you, they may change into a salt shaker while you're gone.
My daughter is my lucky charm, something they didn't know when they asked her to pick tickets.
WF is ALWAYS worth the trip!
When John Bjorm says, don't go this way, don't.
Grace is Grace under pressure or Grace under fire, depending who you ask.
MacGyver will always be MacGruber to me from now on!
Being a cop gets you a cute girl friend who is hard to scare off.
John B has friends with Jeeps just as pretty as his.
Little dogs will tear up big dogs if they get the chance.
Getting in the middle of a dog fight will get you bit.
Winterfest in Attica just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
50 dash plaques may seem like too many when in facts it's not enough.
If you use a case stretcher when you gear a D30 it is much less likely to break a ring gear!
and much much more.
Thanks too all who planned and executed this event, as always you did a great job. An especially big thanks to all of the sponsors who donated items for this event. We all know how difficult times are for everyone so donations in these times represents a great commitment to NAXJA!
I had a great time and for the first time in a long time, didn't break anything!

Found this out the hard way Saturday night :(
- Chrome may not get you home, but wood bumpers are Attica Tested ™.
Wheeled all day Sunday and smashed my left rear tail light, the wood bumper is still intact though!
Loved my first WF experience, we'll be back next year with the turkey fryer!
I live too close to NOT make it there in April or May... someone pick a date and I'll be there!
Exclamation points!

I learned quite a few things at my first WF...
My stock XJ is more capable than a modified WJ...wicked nice rig that guy has though!!
Two pairs of jeans is just enough.
I need a CB, for real.
Cardboard has a hawt daughter!
All mud needs is momentum, not tires.
J.J. has a sweet V-Dub.
People I have read about on here, looking at their rigs and thinking of them as kinda famous (Mac) aren't famous, they're notorious! HAHA!
MWC people are just as nice to you as if you have known them all your life.
I'm sure there's more, but those stick out in my head the most! And the second weekend in May would be more than fantastic for me!

Couple more...
- People look at you strange when walking around the CG drinking sweet tea straight out of a half gallon jug.
- I finally have a sweatshirt my wife won't steal.
- I forgot how much I enjoy the Badlands.
- I forget how many new friends I make and old ones I see every year.
- A guy with a stock XJ can make out like a bandit on other people's old stuff at the "swap meet".
- I wish I had as much fun in my 5" lift/33s rig as Stryker did in his 2"/30s rig. You're hooked now man.

The megacab becomes less mega with two people sleeping in it...
34ft of bumper pull trailer is big...but not the biggest...
My shop needs a nacho cheese dispenser...
Dan "Fourwheeler" Wheeler has impeccable timing when coming to say his goodbyes...
My XJbuggypopcan jumps better than I could ever imgine...
Even a XJbuggypopcan needs a strap in the mud...
Bald crawlers rock on the rocks but suck in the mud...
There will always be something screwy with the weather at winterfest...
Its weird meeting the same people in the shower two days in a row...
XJs can be fixed by wiggling battery cables...x2
I have passed on carrying the mobile NAPA store...
Apparently snow angels in the straw are fun...but I can't remember...
First UP canopys can be brought back from the dead and still work...
No matter how hard I try every year I can never put names with a face with a screen name...
Having a girl with you that is having fun makes Winterfest that much more fun of an event...including sleeping arrangements...
It was great to have the XJbuggypop can back for Winterfest...
Deep down everyone wishes they could own a bus...
I am still waiting for the front end of the XJbuggypopcan to fall off...

Well I definetly learned a few things...
- A near stock XJ is great on green..
- Locker and a 2" lift will go far.
- Tents are definetly not waterproof, especially when SeanR drained his water and turned it into a lake ! lol
- Midwest guys sure can put away some beer and cook good food
- Was a great time and will definetly be back next year!

Haha either way we didnt stay in the tent. I tried to get as drunk as possible because I knew when I finally had to sleep, it was going to be very uncomfortable..Being 6'6" its very difficult to sleep in the front seat of an XJ. Hence the getting drunk part, made it tolerable
