no major body damage other then a few new dents and a broken door handle

Sucked up some muddy/sandy water on the last run of the day when I knew better then to hit a large water hole at 25 mph :D now I have to ckean out the air intake, TB and might as well change plugs etc to get things running again.

I too like BOB burnt my fingers on the fried turkey :D

and caused a little "gut carnage" after boozing it up at the fire.....

I have some kind of intermittent vibe in the steering. Have to put it up on the lift this week and go over everything.

That's pretty much it. I did lose the 3 bottle caps "someone" stowed in my broken taillight though...

I didn't get anything too bad. I was looking it over today.

Trac-Bar has a bit of a smirk now.
Some stylish new pinstripes from playing "Follow the Leader", which I must say was pretty fun Rev.
My exhaust now comes out between the smashed catalytic converter and dented muffler.
The engine still gets too hot somewhere.

We'll see if I find anything more after power washing it tomorrow

March 9th, 2009, 13:48
I managed to lose my muffler...twice...thanks to Kim, that's a problem I shouldn't have to deal with again soon. Plenty of trees thought they needed to jump into my outside door panels and touch it ever so nicely. And now, my rockers are almost non-existant. Not a single regret! That's what my baby was bought for!! Ready for next year? Anyone?

I haven't taken a close look but here are a few.

Passenger side main leaf spring

Front driveshaft axleside u-joint

tow hook bracket torn a bit

badly dented muffler

The new racing stripe on the passenger side isn't too bad, but not being able to open the door from the outside anymore sucks. Also the window sort-of works, but Rev was happy it didn't break the "glass". I have a feeling an alternator might be in our future also. Time will tell.

At least you get to keep your doors.
Since the passenger door will not stay closed any more, ours are coming off shortly, tube doors to follow.

If it wasn't so much work to swap hinges, I'd have made you a heck of a deal on my half doors. They're for a 96/older.

well...just figured out what I broke in the rear. either I stripped the shackle bolt, or I busted off the nut that is welded on the inside of the uniframe. Not sure which yet! and the bushings on both shackles are dead. Looks like I'm getting a premature 1" rear lift! ;)

oh no...I forgot about that...there was a bad motor mount. It was just the rubber material on the inside had started to chunk out of it. :(

This shackle thing sucks tho, cause I cant drive it until I get new shackles! The bolt on the drivers side keeps coming out

I gained a few more dents - one I have no idea where it even came from. Drivers side door a little harder to close now since the rocker panel (or whats left of it) got push up into the door. Did pick up some doors on Sunday so hopefully for next trip I will have half doors.

They're Rusty's arms. I got them off of eBay. I paid $90 for a brand new set of adjustable uppers and adjustable lowers. So, I guess I got what I paid for. At least they lasted this long.....

For now I'd just weld it back up and run it. Would a stock UCA work as a temp, or did you have them adjusted out?

Someone in the MWC for sale section had some Skyjacker fixed lowers for sale IIRC.

What's the replacement plan?

I'm leaning toward JKS arms now. I'm afraid that these would just break again if I just welded it up. It'd just move the stress point. Being that it'd be the same (fairly thin) material, I really think I'd end up with the same problem again down the road.

With the JKS's I seriously doubt that I'd ever have to mess with them again. I wish I had the cash to throw at it for some quality LA's but that's not an option.

ChiXJeff
March 10th, 2009, 16:53
I'd replace them as well. The shell is already egged, and I doubt you'll ever get it round, or the right diameter again.

Personally, I've had good luck with anything I've bought from JKS. The adjustable arms they were building a few years back looked pretty nice.

IllianaXJ
March 10th, 2009, 16:58
Yeah, I just meant to weld them up to get you back on the road.

Check with Jason @ RC, he may be able to help you out ;)

HaleYes
March 10th, 2009, 17:00
I try to learn from others experiences with this stuff. I know that Randy (I think it was Randy) ran JKS arms and beat the snot out of them for a long time. When one did break, JKS replaced it. I know I don't want another set of Rusty's, RE SF's would probably get me by just fine. However, I think the price difference between the JKS and the RE's is worth it from what I've read. At any rate....I plan on ordering a set of arms tomarrow. Still up in the air as to which ones. I'll do some searching this evening.

My steering box is finally toast after WF. The output shaft had about 1/16" of play before, and now it's much worse. I had a constant wobble all the way home and it pops and shifts around town.

I've got a YJ box in the shed to swap in, but I was hoping to put it off for a while.
