NW-ZJ-SCOTT
March 7th, 2009, 16:16
uhh, marysville? as in, North of Everette? just did that drive last weekend, If you wanna go you are more then invited!

its about 260miles each way, you might wanna leave friday night?

Personally. TSF is fun, its awesome, its spectacular, but.. its still not worth THAT drive..

Sounds like a fun trip wish I could be there, but the snow is calling

For a good easy run I would run Powerline, Hood Raiser, backside of Hogsback, and then Archers from Can Opener to Waterfall.

Very similar to the NWF 06 Saturday Pre-run. I think Mojo would be the only one who would remember that.

Hope to get alignment done before we go, have a wobble at 45-50 then goes away at 60-65. hope an alignment takes care of it.

I would wait and get the alignment done afterwards if you can. I usually need one after a good trip. Especially bumping your tires and jeep around on the trails.

Save yourself some money, and do it yourself.

I've used this method numerous times and it works well.

If your back is still sore in any slite of bit then you need to sit this one out. Nothing is worth making a back wores then it is. There will be plenty more to come but I think you know that already.

What is the official time and where?
8:30 Gales Creek?

Anyone have a free drivers seat i can put in for the run. Still looking for matching seat to buy.

I'm aiming for 9am at Rogers. So, I reckon 830 at the shell would about add up to that.

That seat worked just fine for me! I used it for almost a year. Then one day... a long long time ago...it broke! Then it went south from there. Still works! Grab it, install it, and I even bet he will sell it to ya!

lets not forget this is a noob run. or at least i thought it was. my plan was to do more teaching and taking it slow, than hard core hallin' ass on the hard trails.

we may need to split into 2 groups if you guys wanna hit waterfall etc... with more than a handfull of rigs.

just my $0.02

nightfoam
March 17th, 2009, 20:25
Yeah, they're noobs. It kinda sounds like both are doubtful now though...
I understand the teaching aspect and intend to keep it that way.

NW-ZJ-SCOTT
March 17th, 2009, 21:28
come anyway. there possibly could be 3 ZJ's in the crowed.

SoreRunner
March 17th, 2009, 22:30
OK, this may be a dumb question, but if your driving a ZJ with a 5 inch lift...is there enough flex...that it could break the stock (non-extended) brake lines or abs lines when treading lightly?

Scott...wait your turn on this please...at least 24 hours!

I'm new to the ZJ realm and if it were my old XJ...I'd wheel the poo out of it, but this rig cost me 8 times more than the XJ.

The trip is the 28th...I'm buying a Rubicon Express lift to fix the hack of a lift it has now the following Monday. I don't want to hurt something when its getting replaced a week later and could handle this with no problems in the future.

Just wondering if I should wait this out at least a week. Kinda like counting your chickens before they hatch...in a sense!

GlueNTape
March 18th, 2009, 09:53
I don't know that we plan on running any trails that would cause you to flex... really.

Cedar tree, hood raiser.. Parts of archers.. Depending on how tight your lines are.

I have been debating on if I should put on my bumpers N Stuff before the Run. I am finishing up my reartire carrier, and changing some thing on the front. I am a little concerned if I put the bumpers and winch on.. I will be riding pretty low.. I am still hoping to get it lifted by the 28th.. although it will look silly without new tires :) but oh well.

NW-ZJ-SCOTT
March 18th, 2009, 11:42
with this run, Overextending a breakline could easily be avoided. because flexing is easily avoidable, unless you run something like FB5 and purposly screw around, the only time i ever really "flex" on Cedar tree is when im puposly "Stump humping"

nightfoam
March 18th, 2009, 16:30

I think Dustin wouldn't agree. How much are you lifting it?

I am going with the Full Traction 6" kit. I won't have tires and gears done by then. The lift will be close.. but I am hoping with Spring break I can make it happen.

Awesome choice, Dave!

If (read when) I build another Jeep, that's the setup I would run.

Also, I would know nothing about running 30" tires on a 5.5" lift. :gag:

I have no front tow points other then raping a sling around the front axle. On an official noob run would that be acceptable? There are no plans of deep mud or big up hills that I would have to be pulled very hard? I have had my Jeep off road 1 time so fare with Terry and redjeep3 and did very well (I thought) since I am only running 31" A/T's.

Plus, i gotta test out the new tires.

If you still need a pill to get you through the day you might want to think hard if your going to go or not. If you do decide to go better take it easy your really don't want to get jard the wrong way and make thing go back to how they were with your back, as I think you have learned now that the back is no fun when it is acting up.

not sure of the legalities, but run the Oregon trail, its a long (50mile ish) trail that takes all day (very scenic) and there are places along the way that you can turn off and cross the (i think its the) white river..

nightfoam
March 22nd, 2009, 01:31
Yeah, that section is called the Barlow Road. The river crossings are actually illegal, big ole ticket if you get caught. Now go down to SE Oregon, head for a place called Owyhee Forks, there are plenty of river crossings, the roads go right through the river...

Ooh yeah, Washougal and also the Skamania area. You can find fun places like this

http://www.northwestoverlandsociety.org/desktopmodules/ntforums/viewer.aspx?portalid=4&moduleid=546&attachid=2344

(the road goes from the left edge of the picture, upstream then comes out where the Landy is)

There are also a few small stream crossings along the east side of the Cascades, generally west of the Cascade Lakes highway.

I think this thread has been officially hijacked :)

Actually i believe he does have a new baby boy.

as for meeting. . . .

the gresham folks will be pulling out of the round table on 181st at 730 sharp. (so be there before that, gassed up and ready to roll)

i think the plan for the rest is to meet up at the gales creek gas station at 830, and then everyone else meet at Rogers staging area at 9. and hit the trails around 930 or so.

Just a reminder to come prepared. this shouldn't be to hardcore of a run, but i would still plan for the worst (you never know, trust me). bring food, water, tools, spare parts, recovery gear, extra clothing etc... a short day can become a long weekend real quick when folks don't have what they need to solve problems on the trail.

see ya'll there ! lookin forward to meeting and wheelin' with some new faces.

 Mojo

i wish i could help you with your coax issue. all i have in stock is 1/2" comscope solid core solid shield. a little too much for a wheelin rig. id love to run it in mine, if i had ends for it.
