Brown Dog Motor Mounts
Get shorter rear shocks
Redo tranny lines

Wanted to bring the Grand Cherokee this year to NAC-Fest but ended up selling that to a friend a few months ago. The wife doesn't want me bringing her 98XJ this time to RC so that only leaves the stock 94 Country I just bought. Replaced the entire passenger and driver floorboards. Added a JCR stage two rear bumper, towhooks up front, and front and rear Riddler diff covers.
Sooo it begins..things to get done: 1)Lift, 2)tires, 3)JCR stage 2 sliders in addition to a bunch of other stuff I'm sure I'm forgeting. Problem is I'm broke right now. I own a Jeep. Just Empty Every Pocket

I know when I was buying new u-joints for mine back in October I was going to get these and called Dave at Northridge4x4. He told me they were having problems with them shearing the trunion. Not sure if they fixed this issue or not? I know Mark is running them in his D44, though hes only gone on 1 run with them.

hmm, alright. I don't want to pay for super joints or CTMs just yet, but these were supposedly between the strength of a 760x and a CTM, figured it would be a good compromise for now. I'll look into that though, thanks for the heads up

For me:
1. Have rotted/rusted rockers replaced with HD tubing Done!!
2. Have rusted rear quarter panels addressed In process
3. Replace mangled OEM transfer case crossmember
4. Install HD tie rod from recent Group Buy
5. Select/Acquire/Install new front bumper with integrated recovery points (my Rusty's tow hook brackets have been structurally compromised)
6. Fix my homebrew power mirror harness (outstanding from pre-Moab, it's annoying me because it worked fine all summer until the carpet was reinstalled three days before I hit the road for the 25th)
7. Tweak adjustment on my auto deflators
8. Redo power wiring on my Tsunami compressor before it pulls completely out of the fuse holder
8. Watch the rest of the NACFest 2008 videos (got as far as me crossing of Rock Creek on Disc 1)
I think that's all the necessaries and optionals - now to see how much I'll actually get done.

i didn't think that was your rig, but it does indeed look good. i think i'm going to do mine with 2x4... maybe 2x5. i really don't know yet. i had a 6ft section of 2x6 that i traded away. i almost wish i kept it though... i really have no idea right now... i've looked at a bunch of others' build threads of this and can't decide. i like formatt's though, i'll say that. My endless list of crap to do..
1) replace upper and lower ball joints- doing those tomorrow
2) replace my LCA's
3) drill/tap new holes for rear bumpstops and put them back in
4) Get 4.56 gears installed in the D30 and D44- just ordered gears/install kits today from national drivetrain :)
5) Get ARB installed in the 44
6) disc conversion on the D44 (hopefully)
7) make up some brackets to bolt my sub down so it doesnt slide around
8) get a transfer case skidplate and sye and install them
9) install gas tank skid plate
10) get OBA done
Not sure if I'll get to the disc conversion in time, I might just buy a new set of shoes for the 44 and just run it for a while. I'm not sure if I'll have the funds to get the SYE or transfer skid plate since my axles are more important, but we'll see.

OK, So I have bitten off way more than I can chew and I have not even started yet. I have 2 "built" D44 complete axles, A TnT Y-Link, Springs, Leafs, Shackles and Unibody stiffeners to put on a 90 4 door... Anybody in the Maryland area(vehicle is in West Friendship, Howard Co.) willing to help with the project. Welding skills a BIG PLUS! More than willing to return the favor and YES THIS IS A TRAIL RIG, NOT A MALL KRAWLER! I have a weird schedule though. Wed. and Thurs. off
Also the work will be done outside on blacktop. I have access to air tools and we will have a compressor to run them. Can also compensate with food, beer, and possibly some cash. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can turn a wrench but I know when to ask for help. Post or message if interested and willing.

fix sound
replace T-case rear seal.
get nut strips and hardware for bumper
not important but:

Yay, I can actually do this.
Hmm, lets see.
Get it driving first - It drove to Foxboro yesterday
Replace steering box - Done
Plate frame rails - Might not happen
Modify and install gas tank skid
Take ARB bullbar off and redo mounts/cut for clearance/ sink lights into bumper - Bumper is cut apart, holes made, brackets and everything are done, it just has to get welded all up
Install/hard wire winch - Will happen once bumper gets back together, now that the winch can actually fit in there again
Build rear bumper/tire carrier
Modify Slickrock Gear quarterpanel guards and add integrated tail light boxes
Find out what bearings are making noise in rear axle and replace
Remove t-case and clean/fix or probably replace
Remove the broken crossmember bolt from the unirail so I can have more than 3 bolts holding it on.
New crossmember/skid - Picking one up in a couple of hours
Get new upper ball joint sleeve to fix camber issue
Get 2 screws to screw the rear OX lever face down, so I don't have to hold my rear OX engaged
Fix the trackbar RE superflex joint that RE keeps sending me the wrong/poor quality parts for
New headlights/wire harness/fitchbox - partially done
Buy new tow straps, and only pull people if they have d-ring shackles.

Rain over the last week took care of most of my mud situation.
The remainder can wait until after wheelin next weekend, because it's supposed to be a sloppy mess out there again. I think I like this excuse because you can always find somewhere at Rausch that is a sloppy mess.
I had some pretty bad rattles and clanks, turned out to be nothing more than a few loose jam nuts and johnny joint bolts that hadn't seen a wrench since April 2007. Guess all this 'high speed' stuff is finally knocking some things loose. Good to go!

I just installed a new RMS a year or two ago. It started leaking on my way to SC a few months ago, and started leaking and smoking heavily yesterday coming back from a camping trip.
I'm not a fan of marking everywhere i park.. i'll need to fix it.

- Mount the body armor
- Break in my gears & ensure the locker works (fun, fun!)

I got a lot done, sandblasted and repainted my Conferr rack and made a mount for a high lift. Front pump stops came it, just need to install, order Superails two weeks ago, I hope they will be here soon. I was going to make them but I had to make a rear bumper as well and I'm running out of time. Rear bumper started, just need to fill in under the tail lights but I could run as is.

Cool. Sorry to hear you won't be bringing Melissa's Jeep along.

Alright, the XJ is back together again and operational. :D
Not a bad turnaround. It's amazing to me how routine this stuff is now when years ago I would have been scared crapless about it.
Details later, now I gotta confirm when I can get off work etc. and I'll get back to y'all on the trail guide stuff.

Well, pretty much everything that's going to get done has been done at this point. Some things have been postponed because there's just no time left. Still me and rig are both in fighting trim and ready to rumble.
The final tally:
Done:
1. Have rotted/rusted rockers replaced with HD tubing
1a. (New) Put coat of Rustoleum over primer on new rockers (waiting for warm weekend)
2. Have rusted rear quarter panels addressed
3. Select/Acquire new front bumper with integrated recovery points (my Rusty's tow hook brackets have been structurally compromised)
3a. Pick color to paint bumper when it arrives
4. Order/Install replacement diff cover on rear axle to replace peeling OEM unit
5. Coordinate meeting with MrShaft696 (he's buying my C4x4 rock rails)
6. Register
7. Paint bumper.
8. Install bumper. (Gracious thanks to the steady-handed soul who did the fender trimming for me - I don't know if I'd have been calm enough to do it myself, though I was quite calm as I watched)
9. Tweak adjustment on my auto deflators will do at campground - stupid easy
Not Done:
1. Replace mangled OEM transfer case crossmember
2. Install HD tie rod from recent Group Buy
3. Fix my homebrew power mirror harness (outstanding from pre-Moab, it's annoying me because it worked fine all summer until the carpet was reinstalled three days before I hit the road for the 25th)
5. Redo power wiring on my Tsunami compressor before it pulls completely out of the fuse holder
6. Watch the rest of the NACFest 2008 videos (got as far as me crossing of Rock Creek on Disc 1) bringing along, may try to watch some at camp on my laptop

I installed my aussie locker in the front last night. It seems to work ... I guess ... not that I really would know if it wasn't.
Everything is all set now. The only thing I didn't do was track down my vaccum leak. No biggie - won't really want heat blowing on my feet in June anyway!
All I have left to do now is pack the truck, head to NACFEST, and promptly break all the stuff I've spent six months working on!!!

Well, my To Do list is long, but it's mostly easy stuff ...
- Sell my stock tire carrier - done
- Actually receive my new bumper, paint it, get it mounted - will be done today
- Mount the body armor - tomorrow
- Break in my gears & ensure the locker works (fun, fun!) - working on it!
- Swap the Swampers back on - Tue or Wed.
- Swap over speedo gear for the 32s N/A
- Put a new shock on the rear hatch (involves a visit to the bone yard) done
- Swap on "new" hatch or fix holes in existing hatch left over from the stock carrier - sealed the holes :(
- change front wiper motor
- Check u-joints, grease, etc.
- Check all fluids, change/top off/fill what's necessary
Blah, blah, blah ... the more I write, the more I remember :( .
Yeah, and let's add to that ... FIX THE DAMN DEATH WOBBLE!! I am so not a happy camper .

I think I'm good to go now.
Made this brace for the trackbar bracket:

Did a bunch of plating etc on the driver frame side, built a new rear driveshaft and got it installed, swapped out the joints in the old one for a spare, tweaked a bunch of stuff on the steering, put my exhaust back together in the rear, ya know...all in a day's work. :D
Anyone who wants to follow me around Saturday, don't be scared, I don't bite...the rocks may though. :D
