I have some upgraded axle shaft 260 to a 297 u-joint. I am having problem pulling the hub of the old axle shaft. I have tapped it with a hammer and it has not moved at all. Is it wise to use a gear puller or will it ruin the bearings. Can I wedge a screw driver between the hub and brake plate, need some advice so I can do this right.

Hit it harder.
If you want, thread the bolts back in 3 or 4 threads and hit the head of those to help break it loose.

A puller will ruin the hub. Don't use a hammer or a pry bar.

I did this ^ to 3 different jeeps now with 100% success. Only I used a spark plug socket instead of a bolt and nut.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought he got the unibearing and axle out of the knuckle, but couldn't get the two seperated from each other.
