No idea on whether it's done or not, or it's origin. I've had them on my harddrive for a long time, and just found them while looking for a video of something else haha.

I've read in another thread that the blue one had been built for a Mexican racing team.

Cause they're all mostly rock crawlers and don't see the point. We're slowly but surely changing them :D

When those pics were taken, It was for sale on race dezert. I think the guy lived in hesperia, or somewhere up the hill.

EDIT: And when you say "Beamed" Jim, do you mean a 2wd beam? There's no I beams there....

And when you say "Beamed" Jim, do you mean a 2wd beam? There's no I beams there.... They mean adding a twin 'I" beam front suspension similar to the old Ford Ranger.

Once again.... There is no "I" beams on that truck. Look closely, you can see the factory 2wd beam., and the lower control arms are there too. No radius Arms. I was asking Jim which one he meant.

I know what I beams are, I had a set on my 93 ranger...

It looks pretty damn real to me... and badass as well. :guitar:

How the hell does the steering work on a setup like that? rack?

Fastdemise
March 3rd, 2009, 18:23
Oh pretty simple, you turn the steering wheel :-P

xjjeeper19
March 3rd, 2009, 19:47
That steering set up on the blue MJ is cross over steering, also known as a "swing set" steering. If you have equal length I beams, you run that style setup to get the most travel out of the front, with out binding you steering and getting bump steer. The tie rods pivot at almost the same point as the I beams themselves.

Let me see if I can find a few pictures of the whole setup.

Here's a bit better shot of it. You can see the draglink pushes on these brackets and it moves the whole thing as one... pretty simple but complicated at the same time. Big money wrapped up in that style steering in heims alone.
