what would you like to see?
I just got it yesterday so I havent really got to play with it that much..the little bit I did though I had a blast.. : )
The gas powered trucks were just getting too expensive, so I found this one for a really good deal..

YAh it seems to have a jeep willys body on it..I think.
The thing is really cool it will cral up just about anything. The guy I got it from was really into it, so it has lowers gears in it, bb's were put in the tires, and he suggested I'd drill a hole in the rim to let the air out of the tire so it gets more traction...its crazy..hahah

Basically I would like to see the drive line and transmission. I assume it is electric? Is it set up for lithium ploymer batteries?

We got 2 of those, nice kit right out of the box. Actually lots of fun and fairly reliable, not too spendy to run.
Except those damn drive shafts keep popping off.
I have seen a few others come on the market in the past year and a half that look like affordable and capable kits and RTR's

:doh:there is no air in the tire its foam
Went through all this with Cory (1xfloppy) and his buddy who bought my jeep.
They drill a hole to allow the air in the tire to escape when against an object (there is still soft foam in there too) kind of like airing down otherwise it would be pretty close to sealed and even capturing atmosperic pressure in the tire then making the tire volume smaller (like when weight is on a rock) increases pressure. Also, don't use BB's go get stick on tire weights from a tire shop and wrap them around the inside of the wheel (more weight and easier).

yah maybe he should have searched a little before making a smart remark...lol :yelclap::looser:
Your right you drill a hole in it for extra traction...

Nice crawler! I have a nitro Sport Maxx - RC cars is highly addicting! :)

my TMaxx in the middle of a rebuild. Picked it up for free from a buddy & just needed a real good cleaning & a few parts to get it running. Lucky for me I kept all my tools from the racing days so I don't have to go out & buy everything again..
Tuned Pipe-header & some sjkidplates are on the list to buy:thumbup:

as of right now i have mine in pieces...i am putting a competition chasis on mine instead of the stock ax10 chasis. i purchased the swx chasis and am putting in an order for the skid, i run the shocks with out the "coil springs" and will probably upgrade the tires to the pro line hotbodies 5.5" tires. i will also be running a dig...itll be sweet once i am done.

dude, get the artr ax10, youll spend more money doing the upgrades for the links, and the front locker for the rtr...for the extra few dollars you spend on the artr it comes with everything excpet the electronics and whatnot...man i want a crawler so bad!

i have some of that stuff. i have a few cars laying around i could scrounge off of...
the rtr comes with a front locker, you just gotta install it.
what motor and batteries do you suggest cory? i dont wanna blow the bank tho...so brushless is probably out of the question...

March 2nd, 2009, 11:29
im running a 55t novak brushed with a rooster crawler speed contol, hitec steering servo, and a futaba reciever...it did well prior to me taking it apart. for the batteries get the front axle plate for the battery to be mounted on the front axle. it puts the weight of the chasis lower and helps (imo)crawl better...
iirc the rtr was only 10 bucks more than the artr, but you have to get the electronics. most people are happier that they go with the artr kit instead of the rtr because the links are already metal. i have some of that stuff. i have a few cars laying around i could scrounge off of...

March 2nd, 2009, 11:48
hrm...because you can upgrade the links for like 70 bux...would means with the links the RTR would still come out less after a motor and ESC and all that stuff..
1xfloppy
March 2nd, 2009, 11:55
but the links for the rtr are plastic, they break very easy man...
besthaticouldo
March 2nd, 2009, 11:56
right...but axial offers and upgrade kit to aluminum high clearance links for 50 bux and then the hardware kit for 20.
so 70 bux and id have aluminum links and it would be cheaper then buying an artr and getting all the electronics
then i could just upgrade as i go...

March 2nd, 2009, 12:02
most of the guys i have talked to have bought the rtr and have been dissapointed with the rtr due to all the electric that come with it...if you want to end up changing out the motors and stuff anyways the artr is honestly the way to go. its practically competition ready without the radios...i have about 1400 in my ax10 right now, and theres still going to be more cash put towards it once i get the dig and everything ordered...not trying to bash you just trying to help you save more in the long run man...right...but axial offers and upgrade kit to aluminum high clearance links for 50 bux and then the hardware kit for 20.

lol i dont wanna spend that much money.
haha i just want a fun rig to start with and ill upgrade it over time and mod it as things break.
im looking at the artr and seeing that it will cost me close to 500 just to get up and running and that is way more then i wanted to spend. the rtr will be 300 to start and i can upgrade stuff as i break it or whatever...idk...lol

March 2nd, 2009, 12:19
thats cool i was just giving you my opinion...being my first rc im giving my point of view on the artr but heres a few problems with the rtr
the 27t motor is too fast
the servo is weak
the steering links bend
the lca's bend
the radio glitches
the weak servo causes the esc to go into protect mode or something and it stalls
the esc doesnt have a brake function
just here to help lol....

hahaha i know, i hear ya...
i may buy the artr and just save and buy the electronics when i get paid after that.

Cory you have gone off the deep end with this thing dude. So no Class 9 build eh:rolleyes:
I know how easy & fun it is to go buy all the cool goodies then you add it up when your done & want to shoot your self for spending all that cash. Think at one time I had over 5k in my 1/8 scale cars then I got hooked on air planes & the wife was ready to divorce me.lol

if it is the rtr...id say go for the heavy duty hi clearance links front and rear, and the battery/servo plate so you can mount the battery to the front axle for extra weight...youre going to need to head to a lhs and grab smaller battery packs...if you dont want to fork out the 30 bucks for the battery servo plater go to wal mart and pick up some heavy duty velcro and mount the battery to the top of the servo.

Here's mine, rtr with metal links, steering, knuckles, battery plates, 4 link mounts(front and rear), with the locker installed in the front and lower tooth pinion gear.
The rtr is an awesome setup for a backyard basher, in my case I did not have time to build one and buy all the parts individually, so I picked up the rtr on sale for $199 at my LHS and ordered the metal parts online(between $100-150 max).
