when checking the rear brakes the rear spring on the drivers side seems to be arching in the opposite way. all the mounts are solid and the main leaf and the other leaves are not broken.it sits the jeep down about a inch on that side. the passengers side arch is fine but has one broken leaf #3 down, i plan on getting a set of doner S10 springs to fix the passenger side spring. my question is if i replace all the leaves on the drivers side and keep the main leaf would this arch the main leaf back to a normal position. this being said i would put the same leaves in the passengers side as well keeping things all the same. i know i should look for a whole spring from another jeep but i guess i am trying to save some work like removing the bolts in the eyes of the spring any help would be a great . thanks mark

It sounds like a LOT of work for not much gain. Post up a photo so we can SEE what your project looks like.

the problem with used sprins is that they are not predictable, but goog idea anyway.

i am not sure how or if i can post any pics on here it says i can not post attachments so if any one has the answer let me know. the drivers spring is almost inverted.the passengers side is strait. if any one has pics of stock springs on early 90s cherokee i would like to see what they are to look like. thanks mark

On my 95 XJ, the bottom most and smallest leafs were cracked on both sides in the rear. Simply took them out, got some new Ubolts, and some 2" add-a-leafs (full length) from Rusty's. That brought the rear end up to factory height, perhaps a tad above, which is good for the junk in the trunk and people I sometimes haul. Good luck, it isn't difficult if you can remove your shocks from the axle. One of the bolts on mine was stripped and I couldn't back the nut off, so I had to leave the shock attached on that one side.......which made it a little more difficult since the axle couldn't hang down as far!

I bought a new set at JC Whitney for ~$175 shipped. They fit perfect and work great. I think it has been ~2 years now.
Not a bad option if you just want to refresh the OEM setup.

I don't want to spend more then the jeep is worth, yet I to have a droopy dumper on my '94 as well as a broken overload leaf on the pasenger side. Curently I have used duct tape to stop it from claping when I go over bumps... DT works in a jam but I want to know what kind of money it would cost to fix back to specs. Don't have a lot of $ getting a house in a month or so. Any advice would be apreciated

JC Whitney probably doesn't have a seperate set of leafs though for the "Up Country" package with 1" lift, like mine has....or do they?

No, but mine sat about .5" higher than a stock rig. Put a 3/4" lift shackle on there and call it a day.

Maybe you just had larger tires.....were you measuring from the ground to the body or from bottom flare to center hub?

?
I measured from the bottom of the fender flare to the center hub. However, I didn't replace the tires at the same time so why couldn't I measure from there if I wanted to? :dunno:

Tire size has nothing to do with the distance from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender flare.

I'm not debating that. I think you're missing the point.
No harm no foul. :wave1:
