Here is what I have been doing with my time off.
http://www.fototime.com/7BA6E25A5E5981B/standard.jpg
The furniture is temporary, I want to put a poker table there.

We will put a pool table in this corner.

A future bedroom straight ahead, maybe next year.
To the right is the furnace, water heater, etc.
http://www.fototime.com/696B8E596A8674E/standard.jpg
The bar, a 'fridge will go in the opening under the steps.
http://www.fototime.com/57EF94870EDF2CE/standard.jpg
The bar from the other end.
http://www.fototime.com/4642B2C827EA562/standard.jpg
The back of the bar, we ordered a mirror and glass shelf, they will be here in a week.
I still need to finish off the front of the bar, we are thinking corrugated tin.

You really should match the front of the bar with the chair rail and counters.

Am I the only one who immediately thought of the Family Guy episode where Peter turned his basement into a bar....?
:D
Nice work!

Very nice Sean. We have a bar in the basement as well, though not quite as nice as yours. Great place to hang out, watch TV, drink, smoke, play Rockband, etc... My office is also in the basement. GF refers to it as "the man cave". :-)

We were going to have a mirror custom cut and a glass shelf cut and tempered, $250.00.
But we found this at Lowe's, $70.00

I unpacked my old dart board, I haven't played in a year or so, since my boys moved out.
Lar and I played 301 last night, 3 bull's eyes in a row baby!
Now I need to get back to work so I can buy the fridge.
I was out voted on the stripper pole....
We added up the receipts, a fuzz under $3000.00 in materials so far.

Do you know how you'll finish this?
Might I recommend a piece of crown across the top with returns to the wall?
If it hangs below the top of the box that's good, it will help hide some halogen or xenon puck lights.
Then do your casing on the sides and bottom.

Exactly what I am going to do Monday.
The lights are a bit pricey, they may have to wait.
I am selling my big lawn mower in the spring and getting a push type, that $$$ will finish this off nicely...

I was gonna post a pic of the same spot on our bar... but am now thinking twice about it. Some of you guys seem a bit uppity about finish work. :gag:
Granted I had nothing to do with creation of said bar.... it is still fun as hell.

Not too pricey, I believe these are available at Menards for a similar price, in a variety of colors

Will you need to buy 80' of crown molding? :D

Do you know where a guy could get it at a reasonable price?

If I need 80' I'll make it myself.
If I only need a couple pieces I'll just get it at Menards, as it's not worth the trouble to set up the molder.
From recent receipts, 14' oak 3.25" for $22.26, 16' oak 4.25" for $42.40, and 12' or 14'? pine 4.25" for $27.58

A plasma is planned for the space to the left of the opening, on a swivel mount.
