t case and brake line ?'s

I was just wondering if it is possible to swap the tail shaft from an np 242 case into an np 231 and visa versa? the reason is because i cant afford an sye and i have a tail shaft out of a 242 with the hack and tap alredy done on it. Also can i use the hack and tap from the 242 on the 231 and what would i have to do for that. My last question is what are the proper lengths for brake lines front and rear for 5.5"- 6" of lift? i am running yj front brakelines and the rear line is from a 96 dodge dakota 4x4. both are the stock softlines from those vehicles. they bolt up to our xjs without a problem and are quite a bit longer than our stock lines. i still have slack on mine with 5" lift and flexed out.

The SYE yoke will interchange,but not the output shafts.
