Guages instead of idiot lights??

Did they put guages in 1992 xjs? Mine has the lights but I want to find some guages at the junk yard if they will plug and play???

Hallo. You can also change the senders. Oil pressure sender and temperature sender are different as the idiot light senders. Fuel and voltage, I don't know.

Willem's right. Change the oil pressure and temperature senders (simple on/off devices for idiot lights) to sensors for the gauge package. All of the other instruments will work.

[Edit] That is, as long as you get the right gauge package. IIRC, you'll need a 91-95 gauge package.

I just did this to my 91 xj yesterday. I found a set of gauges on ebay for $20. Then went down to the local parts store and got the new oil pressure sending unit and coolant temp. sending unit. Total for the whole job was $60. Better then you'll find at the scrapyard. The swap took about 20 min.
