Blue painted block...???

I seen a thread on here that was talking about the "mysterious" blue painted block. I was just trying to find it.

I know some older cars from the 60s and 70s had painted blocks, mopar was oragne and ford was blue. Dont know about jeeps though? The origanal paint on my 79 wagoneer was almost a ford blue, but that was just the oil pan and air cleaner.

Oh that is interesting. I just got a 91, and the block is painted blue. It's close to ford blue, I was just wondering if it had anything to do with anything important...lol

amc had blue blocks in the 60s-70s it think. Yours was probably just painted by whomever had your car last.

Your prolly right about that. If I remember right the timmng chain cover was painted red. The car was last owned by a thrift store selling for 700$. Before i bought It.

AMC did use a blue kinda like Ferd's. I used that color when I rebuilt my 4.0. It was called "Chrysler Blue" from Krylon. Came out sweet. I've run across a fair amount of old CJs with motors like the dauntless V6, and Waggys with the Buick 350 with that blue painted on it OE.

My '89's block and everything attached to it is painted blue, but it's a bad paint job and the engine was supposed to have been rebuilt by the P.O.

So the guy said the engine was rebuilt, so I'm guessing when they put it back together they decided to paint the block blue..thats interesting.

i know the 1982 cj5 4.2L came with a blue block. we had a customer in here about 3 months ago with one.
