Completely off topic and not really that big of an issue. I just bought a wire mig welder from harbor freight for like 200 bucks. It's been about 2 years since i've welded anything and I was really hoping today would be the day. Yesterday was a great day the sun was out no wind and I was working. :(

Today I figure will be the day to weld up my exhaust and patch a hole on the rear of my Jeep.

I wake up and its raining. It's mostly a drizzle but the wind is fierce.

I just finished grinding up everything and have the welder ready to go.

Should I finish the project? It's my last day off till sunday.

Not unless you've got some sort of cover. Depends on how hard the rain is I guess, but electricity and water...

yea it stopped raining so I put up some cover for a good half hour I had it going real nice and as I patched up the exhaust the wind ripped all the cover apart so I'm going to save the rest for another day...its starting to flurry right now.

Keep us updated. Is that a flux cored wire you are using? I could never get a good looking weld from flux cored wire.

On a windy day, the flux wire will weld a lot better than gas shielded wire.

Thanks Hinton I was unaware of that phenomenon. Always thought I was getting a crappy weld due to the wire. I know I need a no breeze situation when using Argon. Thats why I weld in my shop and rarely outdoors.

I am using the flux wire. It really wont look as good as with gas but I was getting some strong gorilla beads today.
